Summary

I’m too busy. We’ve all heard it, we’ve all said it. Sometimes being busy seems like the theme of our lives. Yet this frenetic pace poses a serious threat to our physical, social, and even spiritual well-being. In this mercifully short book about a really big problem, best-selling author Kevin DeYoung rejects the "busyness as usual" mindset, arguing that a life of constant chaos is far from what God intends. DeYoung helps us figure out a better way forward as he strikes a mature and well-reasoned balance between doing nothing and doing everything. With his usual warmth, humor, and honesty, DeYoung deftly attacks the widespread "crazy busy" epidemic and offers up the restful cure we’ve all been too busy to find.

Great book in all respects

It’s great to have this all put down in such a concise way. Those in need of help helping those in need of help

Great read to a big problem

Great book but tough to summarise - a massive challenge to tackle the root of busyness by doing the ‘good portion’ spending more time with Jesus

Helpful direction in our busy lives

This audiobook is clear and easy to follow with relevant stories and references. It may be an uncomfortable truth for most. Importantly we need to set our priorities and appreciate the priorities of others; be busy for the right thing; definitely not people pleasing or controlling; and not just for our own selfish desire. We cannot solve the worlds problems, but we can care and do our best in the areas we can. To achieve a usefully busy life, not crazy busy, our faith comes first.

Pray more, work less

Looks like the author's solution for busyness is to pray more and work less. The book itself is endless references to the Bible and Gospel in support of this idea. I guess we shouldn't expect anything different from a priest.
