Summary
Plunging from a well-bred lady to society’s most scandalous outcast, one woman faces danger and romance with a determination to live on her own terms London’s high society assumes that Alexandria Cassell, a lady of impeccable lineage, is eager to wed the first suitable aristocrat who proposes. But Alexandria despises the shallow mindlessness of London society. Craving adventure, she steals down to the docks and stows away aboard a merchant ship bound for Canada. Drake Barrett loves the open seas. As captain of his own vessel, he can escape his life as a duke, where he would be doomed to the empty chatter of glittering ballrooms. But when he finds a delicate beauty aboard ship, he forgets everything but a man’s desires. From a fleeting island paradise to a country caught in the sudden crossfire of war, Drake and Alexandria give in to a passion that just might reveal their true passions - if a shocking act of treachery doesn’t separate them forever. My Heart's Desire is the first book of the Barrett Family series, which concludes with Samantha.

Meh!
Lady runs away to stow away on a Marquis' ship bound for Canada. Highly improbable and I gave up after the hero insists she wear boy's clothing. Whereupon she goes on deck with her waist long hair loose.

Absolutely brilliant
Loved every second of this story. First time listening to one of Andrea Kane's books and I intend listening to all of her historical romances. The narrator was also really good. Will definitely listen to it again. Now on to the next one, Samantha. Thank you Audible for the free book.

Good Story, Quite Racy
Great story, couldn’t put it down. Pretty racy in parts. Not offensive though, although it might make you wonder what happened with your own love life. 😩

Loved the performance, Book was funny.
I really enjoyed Lottie Lush's performance. Great characters especially Smitty. Great little bit of escapism for a light hearted listen.

Is this chic lit?
Panting sexuality, heaving bosoms, comedic of errors etc.
The narrator did her best.
I do see why this was free.
A lightweight story for romantics and has little to recommend it.

Hilarious!
This is so hilariously bad that I almost gave up.... but then I became fascinated into finding out just how bad it could get....
I was not disappointed. It was incredible. Miss Kane should be lauded as the mistress of the infortunately placed and truly excrutiating adjective. In the end, I couldn't wait for the next one.
I won't be looking for any more of her books, but also I want to thank her for the journey. She has to be the best piss-taker I have ever encountered. And I've come across a few in my years of listening to audio books, I can assure you of that.
The narrator should be congratulated for her apparently straight-faced and measured performance during what must have been a rather trying assignment.
