Summary

In den Öfen prasseln die Holzscheite, draußen wirbelt großflockiger Schnee - die Bewohner des englischen Örtchens Byford freuen sich auf besinnliche Festtage. Doch mit der Besinnlichkeit ist es nicht weit her: Der heftige Schneefall droht das Dorf von der Außenwelt abzuschneiden und dann versetzt auch noch die Nachricht von einem Mord im Pfarrhaus die Gemeinde in Angst und Schrecken.

Ein Mann wurde erschlagen aufgefunden, die Tatwaffe: ein Schürhaken. Bei dem Opfer handelt es sich um den Schwiegersohn des Pfarrers George Wheeler. Aber weder der Pfarrer noch dessen Frau Marian oder Tochter Joanna wirken sonderlich traurig angesichts ihres Verlusts. Für den ermittelnden Chief Inspector Lloyd und seine Partnerin Sergeant Judy Hill ein kniffliger Fall, denn das Mordopfer war ein gewalttätiger Tyrann, und alle in der Familie scheinen ein Motiv zu haben. Doch wer wäre tatsächlich so kaltblütig? Diese wunderbare Weihnachtswiederentdeckung ist zugleich eine stimmungsvolle Hommage an das Goldene Zeitalter des britischen Kriminalromans.

Gut gefallen

Ich finde die Geschichte ist sehr gut vorgelesen und hat mir gut gefallen. Leider fand ich den Chief Inspector etwas nervig - aber alles andere war gut.
