Summary
’Are you ready, Max? If anyone’s going to help me do this, it’s you.’
The heart-warming tale of a life-saving friendship.
In 2006, a traumatic car accident changed Kerry Irving’s life forever.
Suffering from severe neck and back injuries, Kerry was unemployed and housebound, struggling with depression and even thoughts of suicide. He went from cycling over 600 miles a month to becoming a prisoner in his own home.
With hope all but lost, Kerry’s wife encouraged him to go on a short walk to the local shop. In the face of unbearable pain and overwhelming panic, he persevered and along the way, met an adorable yard dog named Max. As the Spaniel peered up through the railings, Kerry found comfort and encouragement in his soulful brown eyes. This chance encounter marked a turning point in both their lives.
In Max, Kerry found comfort and motivation and in Kerry, Max found someone to care for him. This is their remarkable, inspiring story.

Heartwarming
I already read this book a year or two ago but, as a fellow Spaniel lover, wanted to listen to it on Audible too.
It’s extremely well narrated and the author is living his best life after a bad road accident that left him in a lot of pain.
You can tell the author is a really nice guy, and I’m glad he recovered from his trauma. It’s a really lovely story.

Lovely steady voice
Loved this measured account of the deep downs and final ups of this man’s life. The story is engrossing without needing to resort to the usual engineered plot twists and breathy, dramatic, grabbing narrator. Heartwarming.

The perfect listen for the Coronavirus lockdown
I’ve been a Max fan for several years, hardly surprising considering we have three wonderful springers of our own, but I hadn’t expected Kerry and Max’s story to be so moving, heartwarming and uplifting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for the light at the end of the tunnel or who needs convincing that having a dog by your side will brighten any dark day.

Heart Warming
Having met Kerry, Max and Paddy randomly some years back I was very much looking forward to this thier story. If you don't believe a dog/dogs can make a difference to your life, then read/listen to this and have your mind changed for the better. Thanks for sharing Kerry.

An amazing story!
I loved this book as it really resonated with me due to my own battle with PTSD and depression, as well as my two springer spaniels who I rescued and they rescued me right back

Max the miracle dog
I have been following Max out in the Lake District on face book for about 3 weeks now as recommended by my sister, and decided to listen to his book to find out what his story was and why so many people were following him. Boy was I in for a big surprise. What a life he has had. I will not spoil it by telling the story as I am hoping you will listen to it yourself and will be as moved as I was. I feel sad that I have come to the end of the book but know I can watch him out with his dogs everyday on Facebook. This book is a moving story of a man that over came adversity to triumph in the end and cannot recommend it enough.
