Summary

Ever been offered a promotion that seems too good to be true? You know - the sort they'd be insane to be offering to someone like you. The kind where you snap their arm off to accept, then wonder why all your long-serving colleagues look secretly relieved, as if they're off some strange and unpleasant hook...

It's the kind of trick that deeply sinister companies like J.W. Wells & Co. pull all the time. Especially with employees who are too busy mooning over the office intern to think about what they're getting into. And it's why, right about now, Paul Carpenter is wishing he'd paid much less attention to the gorgeous Melze, and rather more to a little bit of job description small-print referring to 'pest' control...

Great Story

Would you listen to In Your Dreams again? Why?

Story flows and the characters are very believable .A great story to get lost in and not have to take seriously.

What was one of the most memorable moments of In Your Dreams?

Main character learning to be a hero was all about the paperwork

What about Ray Sawyer’s performance did you like?

Slips between characters effortlessly and never lets you lose the thread

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not a book if your looking for a cry but plenty of laughs and often has me giggling to myself on long train journeys.

Any additional comments?

An easy listen that can be picked up and dropped for as long as it takes without any difficulties to get back into it.

good but file seems corrupt

love the book but there is something wrong with the audible file as there were no chapters and you can't bookmark or see how much time there is left...

Another great listen

Ray Sawyer's narration is absolutely brilliant. His use of a plethora of voices to portray Holt's characters bring In Your Dreams to life.

Again, Tom Holt's writing is entertaining, while at the same time a good, light read (or listen!)

It took me a while to get into this one, but once I did I was entirely hooked.

Great Premise. Lively Narration. Unexpected Turns.

What did you like most about In Your Dreams?

The world in which it was set was had many possibilities. I also liked the way the possibilities were discovered.

Would you be willing to try another book from Tom Holt? Why or why not?

I would try another Tom Holt. The imagination demonstrated in the world in the book is certainly worth giving another go.

What about Ray Sawyer’s performance did you like?

His voice was easy to listen to but also manged to convey the emotions of the characters.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not that sort of book. It was an adventure story but while you could sympathize with the characters you did not empathize. I did not wan the main character to die but his possible death was not of concern.

Great book

Light hearted humour
Some elements of fantasy that don't really impact on credibility but help with humour

Some of character voices can be annoying

Great fun

One of the most underrated writers of our time. Original and blisteringly witty from start to finish.

Excellent

Loved the story shame about the annoying "German" accent. It was, otherwise, well brought to life.

There were times I wondered if I might finish this

There were times I wondered if I might finish this book, but I did. It can be tedious in parts and because I was traveling and crossing borders in this Covid time I couldn't focus as much as I should have, perhaps. I'll try one more of this series before making a final decision.
