Summary
Divorce has been considered particularly disruptive for children due to the fact that it occurs during childhood. While adults may have faced several losses and disappointments in life, for many children, the divorce of their parents is their first life crisis.
It is one of the most stressful events in the lives of children affected, with repercussions that are ongoing throughout the lives of these children.
Some children see divorce as a personal tragedy while others see it as an escape from parental stress and conflict. Children commonly experience fear, sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness, rejection, regression, academic problems, physical conditions, as well as sleeping and eating problems in response to parental divorce. Children report a sense of helplessness due to the lack of control and limited input they have regarding divorce-related decisions.

One perspective
As a person experiencing the challenges of trying to help create a happy home environment for my child struggling with divorce, this book provided useful tools. One caveat, you need a willing ex to help achieve some of the goals describe

My Clients Love This Book
I give this to my clients who have children. It is not a cover to cover read. It is a reference manual, subject by subject. Excellent tool for separated families. There is a version for children as well.

Lots of good advice
It was hard to read all the way through this, and I recommend skipping chapters that are too emotional or not relevant at the time. But if you buy this book, you owe it to yourself and your kids to read it all in good time.

Good information for the healthy.
A good book if you are only dealing hurt feelings. If you are dealing with someone that is mentally ill. It won't help.

A Parenting Guide
I purchased this book because I was looking for resources for writing a parenting curriculum. It is just what I needed, it has really good stuff in it. I just wish it as a curriculum itself. I'm sure the author could do a better job than I putting it together.

Helps the kids find happiness
Realistic for today's world. Sure, it would be nice if we all lived in the Leave-it-to-Beaver world with the white picket fence - but we don't. Instead of suffering guilt and pain.
