Summary

Dublin 2002. Christina’s life is perfectly ordered and satisfactory. Her career is a success and her relationship with her new boyfriend, Steve, is going just fine. Until she gets a phone call telling her that her mother has had a stroke.

Back in Galway, she discovers that her childhood bully is now a nurse in the hospital caring for her mother, and as she is drawn into her family's dilemmas and problems, the tight control she has maintained for the past 20 years is threatened.

Galway 1987. At home, Christina supports her mother, who is doing her best to manage their large family. At school, she struggles to find her place among the other girls. When a new girl, Lynn, joins the class, she hopes that she will find the close friend she has always wanted, but instead the relationship becomes a source of dread.

Just so good!

Loved this book; felt so authentic with author reading it. Reminded me so much of Cailin Cuin.

Beautifully written, uplifting and relatable, an exploration of a family dealing with loss

I really enjoyed the authors treatment of the complexity of sibling relationships and the totally human challenge of focusing on our faults. So heartwarming and beautifully read

Good story

Disliked the pauses after every chapter i kept b checking to see if the book had paused/stopped. It was a a nice story though all about a family and all they go through with their mam and their own lives. I hope Chris and steve stayed together forever. They deserved to be together. I recommend this book.

An Irish story, with a mother at the heart of it.

Homesick captures life in 80's Ireland in the family home, at school and at the discos really well.
Here's a story that feels real and heartfelt. Life nearly 20 years later melds very well into the story line.
An excellent read. I was left wondering how the family were doing now..

Homesick, an excellent easy listen

I really enjoyed this book, particularly listening to the author reading it. A great story everyone of us can relate to, it could be anyone of our stories. A the heart of this story is Christina’s gorgeous mammy, a wonderful strong lady. I look forward to hearing more from Mary Minnock
