Summary

Don't blame it on the hormones. As women, it has always been up to us to leave behind the heritage of health, just like your grandmother did for your mother and everyone in the family. But it's not easy to leave behind a legacy of health and harmony - we must first create that in our lives. That requires making time for ourselves, be it for exercise, to eat right, or simply to nap.

This book is about taking charge of ourselves, thanking our bodies and making peace with the fact that it's not the hormones, it's us. What can we do about our food, sleep, exercise and relationships that will make us feel good, help us overcome the conditions of PCOD and hypothyroid, and, most importantly, get off drugs and stay off them for good?

Repetitive content made this a bit of a disappointment

I loved Rujuta’s previous book - women and the weight loss Tamasha and that was one of the main reasons I instantly bought this one to listen to. But it was quite disappointing to realise that majority of the book had repeated content and examples as talked about in the weight loss Tamasha book.

I think if you’ve read women and weight loss Tamasha, then you can skip this one. If not, then it’s a good first read in classic Rujuta style🙂

Very helpful!

Being an Indian woman brought up in the UK I grew up eating homemade Indian food, and a little western food-but of course always enjoying food from my roots more. While studying away and city life etc. moving also away from home cooked foods! Then slowly bringing it back once in mid-life Rujutas book has made me realise the benefits of 'going back to my roots' in eating and lifestyle changes. I started incorporating some of her suggestions and saw a difference that wasn't just a coincidence! I'm not giving up the thyroid meds yet, but endeavour to build into my life more of her wisdom. Looking to check out her other books. Every Indian woman should take at least some notes from Rujuta! I would have preferred to hear Rujuta reading her own books though!
