this is like clickbait but for audio books

introduction is unbearable, I want to actually learn something, not hear the author brag about how great the book is, for two chapters

A simply Brilliant Book

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I found it inspiring and mood-enhancing. In my opinion everyone would benefit from listening to this as it really gives excellent insight into how you can make your life better by changing your habits and sticking to the new self. The narrator's voice is very pleasant to one's ear.

it's well.... brilliant!

I love Michael Heppell's stuff. Applicable both to life and business, he is the chamois leather that clears your windscreen so you can see exactly where you're going and how to get there. If you think you know all you need to know about what it is you have to do, you probably don't until you've read Michael's book. My vision is so much clearer, my time so much better organised, my priorities make more sense and I'm more productive as a result of techniques I've learned from Michael. Especially great if you feel down, stuck in a rut, feeling certain that there was supposed to be more to life. There is! And "How to be brilliant" guides you down that path in a totally non-patronising way that is real and achievable. Love it.

Brilliant is a new Standard

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Brilliant is a new Standard! a cheerful listening, filled with quite a lot of personal stories, and all explanation about how he learn that lessons, nothing too new if you've heard other self help books, like it's all about action, will of life, be positive, time your goals...but it's somehow good to hear these again and again..help to rethink and keep up.

Which character – as performed by Michael Heppell – was your favourite?

Michael Heppell performed very well, in fact the good thing is that it does not sounds like he's performing, he's just sharing his experience and learning.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

overall, inspiring and cheerful to listen

Like a summary of the self help genre

If you read a lot of personal development books there is nothing new here. It is a magpie book having borrowed ideas from other well known authors some credited and some not.

Please just make it stop!!

The book in a nutshell is that Brilliant people are proactive and positive. Wow, what a deep revelation!

The narrator (and writer) is so irritating! Is he actually narrating or auditioning for RADA? The intonation and sound affects are complete overkill.

He says in 30-40 minute bursts what a concise writer could say in 5. The long winded examples dilute the content and really grate.

Maybe if I had read a hard copy of the book rather than listen to audio, I could have skim read and that would have been better than listening to the repetitive voice.

Examples: the first few chapters are about the book, how great it is and what you’re going to learn. Yet the style is more like listening to a sales pitch of someone trying to hard sell you the book (the one you already bought). Expect to hear ‘In this book’ every few sentences for quite some time!

Then you have to evaluate and score your life in eight areas, from 0-10. In each area you will be provided with several speculative examples by the narrator of how your life might be in that area... one or two SHORT examples would have been sufficient, but no... prepare to hit fast forward to get to the point.

Similarly a story about a boy called Richard and his friend starting a school newspaper, then moving on to a student paper, and then selling records... It was painful to listen to, we gathered he was talking about Richard Branson within minutes... but alas we have to be subjected to the VERY long detailed account of events, that adds no value to the message whatsoever. (Branson never gave up, was always positive in his outlook and ‘Brilliant’).

A painful listen, I gave up when I stated to develop a headache! A good narrator is engaging and soothing. This book was more like listening to a brash business advertisement on local radio station.

If you know nothing about positive motivation, self-life coaching and have a hard copy of this book, maybe it has some merits? (As long as you skim to get to the points).

Great book, inspired me to change towards better

Great book, make sure to visits Michael's website to check the resources mentioned throughout the book! A lot of concepts are taken from 7 Habits Of Highly Successful People but also includes a lot of great tips and tools to better your life1

BY THE WAY THE LAST WORDS OF EACH CHAPTER ARE NOT CUT BUT THEY TRANSITION IN TO THE TITLE OF THE NEXT CHAPTER!

What happened to the end?

Great book, shame that it cut every chaleter and I never got to know what the last few words were!

Fake polite englishman tries too hard

Instead of solving an underlying problem he brags about being forcefully happy in an annoying too polite English way. Waste of time. When you say could be better instead of something is bad is just covering, faking, not helping
