Summary
Claire Ingram hasn’t been back to her family’s estate in Falls Village since that summer before she went off to college to study fashion and design. It was the same summer she lost her virginity to a man older than her, a man she had fallen in love with, but knew their taboo relationship would only bring more rumors and speculation to her family. Her aunt and uncle had been too good to her, taking her in when she’d needed an escape, to allow that to happen.
Now grown and returning to the place where she became a woman, Claire hadn’t expected her past to be waiting there for her. But since her return to the small harbor town to work on The Feud of Falls Village, she’s dealt with the rumors about her extended family and her relationship with the man she met when she spent that summer there years ago.
But the inhabitants of Falls Village still don’t know the entire story of the Ingram family. The Feud of Falls Village is about to debut in town and tell the story Hollywood created. But no one knows what Claire and Carson Ingram know. The rumors and speculations may not all be true, but most fables are based on the truth, and it was about time for the truth to be told.
Miles Hamilton is back in town, and with Claire’s reappearance, it feels too much like something close to fate for him to leave. With his sister and brother-in-law making love and marriage look like the best thing life offers, Miles questions his earlier life choices. He’s always done the right thing, the rational thing. Maybe it was time to take a lesson from his niece and throw caution to the wind, take very early retirement from his lucrative career, and enjoy life and love forever to go.
