Summary
'Slowly I raised my rifle, aimed and pulled the trigger... One round hit and went through the boot. The leg kicked up about three feet and fell back. Confirmed! The Argy was now dead for sure. No screams, no nothing.'
Spud Ely's SAS career has taken him into some of the most deadly, high-octane, violent battles ever. From the Falklands to the Persian Gulf, he has been in the very centre of the most ferocious fighting scenes modern history has witnessed. Armed to the hilt with the most up-to-date, hi-tech military machinery and his highly-toned fighting skills, Steve is truly a force to be reckoned with.
Fighting for Queen and Country is the unputdownable account of his most bloody, violent, heroic moments. 'Through the smoke and fire I could see two bodies inside, one burning and obviously a goner. I shot the other in the guts. The look on his face was total shock as blood spurted up from him and covered my right leg. Then I put two rounds in the other body for good measure.'

Excellent Story
I have a number of friends who have served in various branches of the armed forces over the years. I have also trained with a friend of mine who is in the Royal Marines and the Fitness of these guys is only matched by the good humour that they have. I had also hoped to join the forces, but sadly suffered with an illness as a child that left me with a disability. I have nothing but respect for these guys who put themselves through the toughest of challenges. This book was a very interesting listen and narrated, in a very matter of fact way that reminded me of so many of my friends who have walked to similar path.

Absolute authentic
Alternates between laugh out loud to deadly serious. I enjoyed “bring me the arse of Saddam” and “Goose Green” and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Great read just a little shorter than I would have liked
I never realised the Argentines had used napalm on the British during the Falklands War.

Atl true and interesting account from a experienced serviceman.
A fascinating story from Spud, it is easy listening and as a veteran can relate to some of the personal issues he discussed.
I highly recommend the audiobook looking at Operations from the 70s and 80s that make a great change compared to listening to operations of today.

Pretty much the best and most honest account in the SAS
Spot on account with no embellishment, which engaged me from start to finish. Highly recommended
