As a medical examiner, Serena Hopkins is used to dealing with death. But that doesn't make it any easier when she's called to the eerie scene of a murder - especially when Serena realizes that she knows the victim. Nearly as unnerving is the presence of FBI agent Dominic Allen, her childhood crush. As evidence mounts and points to a serial killer with disturbingly familiar methods, Serena and Dominic must work to find a pattern and stop the killings before the murderer strikes again. And when Serena's own life is at stake, she must decide if the secret she has been keeping has put her next on the killer's hit list. Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?

"This intense nail-biter of a thriller." (Library Journal)
I just LOVE this series! And this book is pure Lynette Eason!! Lots of intense drama, nail biting suspense, good story, solid characters, romance and some humor. Loved it!
The narrator was good, but to be honest, I preferred the narrator of the first book; she was just brilliant and it would have been excellent if the same narrator did all three books in the series.
I made the mistake of downloading book 3 before book 2 and even with that mistake, the story was still good and it did not diminish at all from being one book ahead.
"Lynette Eason is great but..."
I love Lynette Eason's books and am a loyal listener, but it was hard to get through this one because the narrator is awful.
Mrs Eason, please steer clear from this narrator in the future. I would like to recommend Eleni Pappageorge. She is my favorite narrator. She has read Rachel Hauck's books before. But I do love your stories of love and faith.
"Her other books are ok."
The narrator should find a new calling. Her 'voices' are terrible to say the least.
The story was disjointed and hard to believe - left many unanswered questions and of course you need to purchase the 3rd book to continue with the big question of what is in the letter.
I cannot believe that Serena got through medical school. She is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
The author's other books are ok but all the same theme - murders, hostage, last-minute saving the woman. (or girl as per Serena)
"Didn't enjoy narrator"
The narrator voice took away from the story. The different pitches and pretend voices were distracting.
"Great story...awful narration"
I love the story; the suspense and fast pace are great.
Most of Lynette Eason's....
Everything was punctuated, and the character's voices were awful. It sounded as if she were just trying to make up goofy voices, not read the book with expression.
I haven't looked, but I hope the third book doesn't have this narrator.
"Great story - bad character voices"
The story was excellent! However the person who read it was bad with the character voices. She did a good job reading - just the character voices were bad.
What I can't understand is why an author would be ok with such a terrible narrator???? It was all i could do to finish, even though i enjoyed the storyline. The only thing that kept me going was knowing that the third book in the series had a better narrator.
"Okay story but TERRIBLE narration"
The story line was okay but a little hard to follow--too many characters mentioned but not developed. The change in narrators voice was awful--it really distracted from the story. I almost quit listening several times, but stuck it out.
"Story very good but....."
The continued story in this series was very good. Suspenseful and fast paced. My problem is with the narration. I liked the narrator's enthusiasm but she was awful with additional voices. Part of the problem comes from the first book in the series. That narrator gave each character a personality that enhanced the story. This narration discarded those personalities and constantly pulled me out of the excitement of the story. Many of the voices were so close it was hard to distinguish who was talking. I hope the new narrator in book three gives the characters back their more believable personalities.
"Story was great! can't wait to listen to next one."
struggled to get thru listening because of the reader, not the story. loved the story.
Loved the story so much but the performance was not the best and the change in the voices between the first book and this one was very distracting. Almost like a personality change. However the plot was fantastic and the writing incredible.
