I'm a pawn, a piece of chattel, a toy - used and forgotten. When you're done with me, you can walk away with no regrets. That's how my husband sees me. I try to be the best wife possible for him. After all, he took me on when no one else would. Now - he's in debt and owes more money to the loan shark than we can possibly repay. But, don't worry, he's come up with a solution, it's just not one I was expecting. I've been traded.

I voluntarily listened to, and reviewed the audiobook version of this book.
It is definitely a book that draws you in. I liked the premise of the storyline and was interested to see where it went. A lot of the storyline was a little predictable and 'too good to be true'. Also I'm no prude, but there was a little too much detail in some places...sometimes less is more!! I'm not really a fan of sex scenes in audiobooks...it all feels a little wrong, like you're invading someone's privacy!!
I've seen some other reviews describe this book as a 'dirty fairytale' and I think that's a great description. I think there are some areas in the book that could've been explored more than all the sex and lust but that's probably my fault for not understanding the genre of the book.
I give this book 3*.
"Fall in Love with the bad boy... or is he?"
Traded by Rebecca Brooke
This is a fascinating story. The main guy in the story comes across as the bad guy. Ashton is the son of a loan shark who is collecting from her husband who owes his family a lot of money. Elaina is an emotionally abused woman who is traded by her husband for time to get more money together for debt. Ashton decides to take the deal in order to get her out of the situation and show her she deserved better. The author does a wonderful job showing the inner turmoil of the woman thrust out of an abusive situation into the unknown.
This narration duo does an incredible job. I love how they read with inflection – like they truly care about the story they are reading. They aren’t scared of the sexy scenes but also put true caring and inflection following the story of an abused woman.
Definitely give this book a chance but be aware if you have triggers regarding abuse it is not one to pick up lightly.

I loved the way Ashton was with Elena. He was so sweet and caring, made you just fall in love with him.
Ashton, he is the sweetest bad guy you will ever meet! I loved the way he empowered Elena to stand on her own.
Yes I have, I love this duo they are truly amazing together. I cant wait to hear more from them.
I tried, but it was a little long for one sitting. I can say I never wanted to turn it off.
Rebecca did an amazing job writing this book. I look forward to more work by this Author

"GREAT premise with Catherine Anderson-esque style"
Not long ago I listened to JT Geissinger books, and I was warned that I wouldn't like the heroines, yet I would enjoy the stories. It was true. There are some books that as long as you walk into them knowing this or that is going to be a certain way, then you can move on and enjoy the rest of the story.
I haven't read a Catherine Anderson in years, but this book reminded me of her sugary sweet heroines + HEA style. Yes the heroine starts off as a Mary Sue Doormat. I mean she is *Mary Sue* and I kept wishing that this book went full BDSM and explained her as the ultimate broken in full slave, or that the story was set in a barbaric time period or even an ultra repressed Victorian era romance because I needed a reason for her to be soooo devoted to her crap bag of a husband, sooooo good in all things, and yet stay with him and put up with that, working outside the home, positive outside influences unable to talk her out of leaving him for years and years.
Then I thought... you know?? Props to the author for NOT making her parents the brainwashed members of an uber religious cult etc etc and NOT making any excuses -- this woman has been systematically emotionally abused. Her husband wormed his way into her confidence and didn't stop chipping and as much as I despised that yes I know it happens.
Such a relief when the hero begins the battle of reprogramming her. SUCH. RELIEF.
This girl NEEDS it.
I came to like her. Her revelation about his role in the business is actually... really cute. ;)
I liked the hero for her. She needed a guy that loved her and didn't mess with her head, didn't do games - just figured out what he wanted, and activated a plan to make it happen. And he realizes what she needs and works with her to make things easier, better. Really nice.
There were a couple of scenes I bookmarked in this audio because they were really touching. I loved the premise LOVED it. Fascinating, horrifying premise to walk in blind to find out the man you've devoted your life to just traded your body to a criminal for a few months.
AND THE NARRATION. It must be said. Dual Narration: was never a fan of it. Didn't finish a book that had it until I heard Honey & Will in another book, Burning Ember. I'M A CHANGED LISTENER. Their voice acting is AWESOME and I really, really was surprised how much and how fast I fell in love with her doing all the female and him doing all the male lines. It's - well, it's like a riveting play for my ears and I'm afraid they've spoiled me!!

"another take on the Pygmalion meme"
An enjoyable story, The good people were good and the bad people, oh so bad. I almost gave up early on because the female protagonist was so damaged. Give it a little time and you will not be sorry. Narration was well done, fleshing out the characters in an efficient and pleasing manner. I was provided an evaluation copy of this story in exchange for this unbiased review.
"GREAT STORY — NOT AS DARK AS EXPECTED"
I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
First time listen to this author and she impressed me. I expected a bit more of the down-and-dirty side of a Mafia Romance but was given a real love story. And I loved the story.
Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will were awwwsoooome! I have heard them once before (quite recently) and hope the continue to do a lot more narrations in their perfect duo voices.
TWO ENTHUSIASTIC THUMBS UP!!
"Really, I am so glad she was traded!"
I was given this book in return for my honest unbiased opinion. I really liked this book but at the beginning of the story I thought I was going to go crazy. i can't deal with mental or physical abuse. Her husband was a jerk hut man the best thing was the trade. I loved this story and won't give away all the good parts. The narration was great as well. This book is sn overall win.
"Dark but hopeful story"
Absolutely. I loved the hidden hope that was built within the story
Their voices were extremely pleasant to listen to and they did other characters voices with just enough of a difference.
I found myself smiling a lot while listening to this book

Who would put mod type stuff with the chance to get a young women out of a abusive repressive relationship? From the get go you go back back and forth from loving and hating the book. There is A LOT of strong language used non stop in this book. There is graphic sex acts. There is the degradation of a young women. ( this is the hate part) but then you get hooked in to finding out where the heck the author is taken you with this crazy mix. Put it this way it was no typical walk in the park . And strangely that's what made it good for me at least. I LOVED the different characters voices His so strong and her so soft and sweet added to the story itself. I received this book at no charge in exchange for an honest review.
"Perfectly Imperfect Way to Find Your Soulmate"
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. At first I wasn't sure I would like this story since the husband is such a verbally and emotionally abusive douche. Then he trades his wife to a loan-shark for his $200k debt, which doesn't seem to be any better situation for her. You want to not only hate the douche husband, but you want to hate the loan-shark for accepting the trade. But the more you listen to the awesome narrating duo perform the characters and bring to life their story, you find that the loan-shark may not be such a bad guy. In the end, I loved this story and the HEA for the main character regaining her confidence and Independence, along with the chance at being loved by a deserving man. I highly recommend this audiobook.
"Loved The Dual Narrative"
Ok, I thought it was going to be way darker, in fact in really wasn't that dark at all. It was a little longer than required in my opinion but I enjoyed it, both narrators did an amazing job and this just confirms how much I prefer dual narrative.
