Lacey Adams lives in the small town of Magic, New Mexico, where she devotes herself to the animals at her Touch of Magic Animal Shelter. The strange assortment of animals helps heal the pain and loneliness inside her since the death of her husband three years before.
Frost is a Star Ranger. He travels the star systems, bringing intergalactic fugitives to justice. When a maximum-security fugitive escapes from the mining prison, he is sent after him. Only this time, the fugitive has violated a major law... he has traveled to a distant forbidden planet inhabited by a race that has not mastered space travel yet. Now, he is in a race to find the fugitive before those on the planet known as Earth discover there are not one, but two aliens on their world. Things become complicated when Frost discovers his heart is not as frozen as he thought when a young human female is taken hostage by the fugitive. What he doesn't anticipate is her unexpected resistance - both to the fugitive and to him.
Frost is forced to make a decision that is guaranteed to put him on the most wanted list when he follows his heart and kidnaps Lacey. He knows that some things are worth the risk. What he doesn't know is that Lacey has a few secrets of her own.

A middle aged woman who hates running & uses audio books to drown out her mind screaming for mercy.
I loved many of S E Smith's previous stories but this is my favourite thus far. A really good story that really surprised me in the end. Just when I thought it was over ...BAM... yet another layer. Well read ...not annoying but I just like guys who sound like guys rather than girls trying to sound like them. Well worth the money
Yes and no. I'm so glad the audio edition came out as I can listen ad work at the same time. But I loved reading the book too. S.E. Smith is a fantastic author and really engages you in her books you want to read on to see who the story ends.
Very similar to Alanea Alders Arkadian series in that it's based in a town with magic, but ones sci-fi and ones paranormal but very similar with humour and the dedication of the main characters.
It has to be when she shrunk the baddie down in size I couldn't stop laughing that this bad alien was best by a witch ... lol
Yes riveting storytelling and the book just hit my emotions from crying to laughing.
S.E. Smith is another amazing Sci-Fi and Paranormal author. I love all her works and A Touch of Frost is a relatively new series by her. Can't wait to see if they release all her books in audio verion I will definately be getting them.
I liked the humour and the family connections
It's hard to pick a favourite character apart from Frost & Lacy, I really liked the twins Joseph & Jonah, they were so bright and mischievous oh and of course Dusty the pig!
David Brenin has a pleasant reading voice, I enjoyed listening to him.
I laughed out loud numerous time throughout the book.
I really enjoyed listening to this book and would recommend it, it has a bit of everything, humour, action and romance. I'm now waiting on the next one in the series.
"A cool new series by S E Smith"
A Touch of Frost is a great start to a new and different new series that is both funny and touching with great and strong characters throughout. It had me completely engrossed from beginning to end and I didnt want to put it down.
The characters are so well done that they seem real that they could just walk in to your house and talk to you. It makes you want to believe in magic and wish there really was a town like Magic and that aliens really do exist especially if they are like Frost. His world is beautifully described and when you listen you feel you can see it clearly.
The narrator did a great job with the story and kept me enthralled over a ten hour drive so much that I didnt notice the length of the trip and didnt feel tired and want to pull over for a sleep.
I loved this new beginning and am looking forward to the next instalment and hope that the same narrator is part of the story as he did such a good job. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone looking for a different spin on the theme of love loss and triumph of spirit to reach a happy end.
"Finally... MORE PLEASE!"
S.E. Smith can't write a bad story. I'm waiting very impatiently for more of hers to be audio.
I laughed (out loud), was sad and happy. I wanted to cry in a couple of spots. Everything in one book..perfect.
I haven't heard him before, but I enjoyed his performance.
Yes, but if I tell you, it'll spoil the story for you....just listen and see.
I have been checking and checking for this author to be on Audible. Finally... she's got wonderful stories to tell. I love all of her books and can't wait for more to come out in audio.
Such a good book! The only, and I mean only thing that bothers me is that I have to WAIT for book 2! I was laughing, I was sad, I was wondering how in blue blazes the author was going to get the characters, that I loved, out of the situations they found themselves in.....but I am happy to report S.Smith came through with flying colors....as did the characters. Wish I were a disciplined person, it would make the wait for #2 easier. Oh well, I will just listen and laugh with book 1 again, it was that good. Oh yeah, the narrator was wonderful too.
yes, was a great performance and story
Another great S.E. Smith story and it was a great new start to a new series, i wasn't disappointed, i laughed, i got emotional and was hooked from the first sound of his voice in touch of frost :)
"A Fun Love Story"
This is a fun love story that combines witches, aliens, a mad scientist, a very unusual puppy, a set of twin boys, and even a dragon. I know this sounds like a strange combination, but S. E. Smith makes it work. This is the story of what happens when a alien villian and a Star Ranger come to earth and meet a family of witches and a set of very curious twin boys. I had to laugh and smile all the way through this book and I look forward to the next book in this series.
With David Brenin's narration the characters were enhanced and brought to life
The twins were delightful, the aunt was amusing and the hero was special
Everything. I absolutely loved his narration his voices were easy to listen too and the performance flowed
Yes. You wanted to know what happened next
I really enjoyed this book, because of the different characters and I thought that David Brenin's voice made S E Smith's marvellous novel come to life.
This book would have been a 5 star, but the love was rushed way way way to fast. I mean within hours they love each other? No way I needed more time then hours.
The other charcaters and the storyline was cute.
I first read this book August 29, 2014 and I absolutely loved it. I’ve often thought of reading it again, THEN I ran across it on audible and that settled it. I bought the audio and sat down to enjoy it again. I’ve never really been into alien books, which is strange since I love alien movies. But when I ran across this one in 2014 I decided to give it a chance, and I’m so glad I did. It was sooo magical.
I love, love, loved Topper. When she first showed up, in the first few pages, she had purple eyes, and hair to match, and like Lacey, she “saw” things. I love witchy kinds of books, and this was a whole town of magical people, ghosts, fairies, trolls and shapeshifters. And the characters were just awesome: Joanna, Samantha, Lacey’s sisters. Jonah, Joseph, Lacy’s cousins. Ivanna and Brice, Lacey’s parents. Theo, the dragon sheriff. Dusty the talking pig. Alfred the centuries old fish. Idan, Frost’s A-hole brother. Jones Redman and Alice who got exactly what they deserved and Taar, the alien who died very painfully.
I loved it when Lacey turned Frost into a “very fluffy white bunny,” and Taar into a creature the size of an index finger. She had no idea she was dealing with a vicious alien. She thought she had a huge version of Jonah and Joseph’s pet lizard that they’d super-sized, in a spell gone wrong. Taar killed anything in his path so her arguing with him was too funny. She was some kind of magic!
Two things were wrong with this book. 1) The author used the word vagina. Yuck, that’s so doctor-ish. And 2) the last part of chapter 9, it was repeated. I was read for the next paragraph and it started reading what it was just read. Weird!
There was not any sexual tension to speak of but there was explicit sex. The word damn was used a few times and the F-bomb was used 9 times.
This really was a fun and funny read.
As to the narrator: He did a decent job. He could do a better job on the women's voices and read with a little more emotion. I would listen to him again but I wouldn't go out of my way to look and see what else he has narrated.
"Really Good Book"
Listening to David Brenin. He is so good that I look for other books narrated by him. Also, Frost was so good that I would like one of my own. He loves very deeply once his heart thawed.
Antics by the cute twins and when Lacy turns around to face Frost when on his planet. He didn't know what to say. Topper is also very funny.
Yes and have even purchase books because they are performed by him. This one is just as good as all of his other performances.
Yes and I did.
Touch of Frost was an awesome book. As usual, S. E. Smith did a great job. There were some strange paranormal characters in this book but Ms. Smith made it work. David Brenin is so good that I wished the book was much longer. Unfortunately, this book ends at a weird spot. Hopefully Audible will get book 2 so we can find out what happened to the people who went to Frost's planet.
The book was funny and interesting with just enough super natural and extraterrestrial content. Look forward to next book.
