Summary
Amy Harper Bellafonte is six years old, and her mother thinks she's the most important person in the whole world. She is.... Anthony Carter doesn't think he could ever be in a worse place than Death Row.... He's wrong. FBI agent Brad Wolgast thinks something beyond imagination is coming.... It is. The Passage.
Deep in the jungles of eastern Colombia, Professor Jonas Lear has finally found what he's been searching for - and wishes to God he hadn't. In Memphis, Tennessee, a six-year-old girl called Amy is left at the convent of the Sisters of Mercy and wonders why her mother has abandoned her.
In a maximum security jail in Nevada, a convicted murderer called Giles Babcock has the same strange nightmare, over and over again, while he waits for a lethal injection. In a remote community in the California mountains, a young man called Peter waits for his beloved brother to return home - so he can kill him. Bound together in ways they cannot comprehend, for each of them a door is about to open into a future they could not have imagined.
And a journey is about to begin. An epic journey that will take them through a world transformed by man's darkest dreams, to the very heart of what it means to be human. And beyond. The Passage.

Well written, excellent narration, good production
This genre isn't one that I'm usually into, but I enjoyed the story and the narration very much. Sometimes a narrator and production value and make or break a good story, and this was a good combination of both. I really got into the story and couldn't wait until my next listen.

Why did no-one send this book to a good editor?
I read the book when it came out, enjoyed it thoroughly and bought the Audible reading when the sequel came out so I could remind myself of the details. It is a good story, fairly well told BUT there is so much in here that could be pruned away without changing any of it. As it stands it is a huge, bloated book with so much superfluous detail that it is genuinely difficult to get through a second time: he tries to do the human interest side that Stephen King does just brilliantly but it doesn't work. I also found the main narrator to be really quite dull, he has a portentousness to his reading that wears very thin after about 30 hours...
Worth a listen, definitely. As good as The Stand or Salem's Lot? Not even in the same ball-park, not even playing the same game.

Great book, can't wait to listen to the next.
The story is really interesting, just the time span of the book and characters but it all knits really well. The narrator's are really good. Very enjoyable.

One of my all time favourites
Lovers of post apocalyptic stories will love this trilogy. Fantastic writing you really become invested in the characters. I’ve listened to the whole trilogy through twice now, a good 90 hours worth each time. An epic story that still feels thrilling each time.

Good but bloated
Thought the book starts very strongly, but starts to drag mid way through. Narration was good.

A fantastic story, but could be split up.
I really enjoyed this book and could barely put it down. The story does go all over the place though and could end at Part 1 and be a different book.
I have already purchased the 2 other books and cannot wait to find out what happens.

Brilliant but.....
I loved so much of this vampire apocalypse. At times truly terrifying and so engrossing it was impossible to stop reading.
But...
The editor should have been stronger in cutting down so much self indulgent narrative that didn't add to the story and was to be honest? Pointless. I grew board at times and really tried not to be.
Justin's a writer. A story teller. So he'll get engrossed and maybe at times not know when to stop. Stronger editing would have been wise.
A pity.

Thrilling
An edge of your seat page-turning saga with twists, turns and brutality to keep you on the edge of your seat and bloodthirsty for more.
