Secrets told in the church ladies' room are supposed to stay in the ladies' room. But that doesn't mean that what Trudy overhears there during her great-aunt Gertrude's funeral won't change the rest of her life.
Trudy has a daughter in the middle of a major rebellion; a two-timing husband who has been cheating for their entire married life; and a mother with Alzheimer's residing in the local nursing home. She doesn't really need a crumbling old house about to fall into nothing but a pile of memories and broken knickknacks.
Billy Lee Tucker, resident oddball in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, lived next door to Gert, and in her will she leaves him the funds to help Trudy remodel the old house. That's fine with Billy Lee, because he's been in love with Trudy since before they started school. And just spending time with her is something he'd never ever allowed himself to dream about.
A beautiful home rises up from the old house on Broadway, and right along with it rises up a relationship. But is Trudy too scarred from what she heard in the ladies' room to see a lovely future with Billy Lee?

It's quite true that men just don't understand The Ladies Room or why we go in pairs or all together. This book is so beautifully written in Carolyn Brown's wonderfully warm and funny style. It really is a must read or listen as in my case.
This is a great writer with a super love story and no cuss words and no sex scenes.
Sometimes clean stories are boring but with this good writing and humor I could not put down
For anyone who has experienced loss or betrayal and doubted life would ever be live-able, much less wonderful again, this is your book! Might just be a story, but any narrative that illuminates possibilities that seem unattainable can spark hope - and that's how a new chapter in "real" life can begin.
Spending time with Trudy and Billy Lee fills mind, heart and soul with uplifting energy, affirmation of the joys of true companionship and a gentle reminder to look beyond appearances because more often than not, there is goodness within - a timely nudge about the gifts we might deny ourselves if we fear those who seem different or odd somehow.
Further, this narrator is a natural fit for the character and generates the sense that the author is simply telling her story. Only drawback was to reach the end of a story and characters too good to disconnect from.
"Entertaining and easy listen"
The main character and her story reminded me a little bit of Evelyn Couch ( Kathy Bates) in Fried Green Tomatoes. The Ladies Room is a gentle story of a woman who is jarred into taking aggressive action to rebuild her own life. Just a ride along and fun listen.
"Kept Me Giggling"
A sweet story of discovering everything you don't know, that is right under your nose. It reconfirms that we should never judge a book by the cover. I was giggling outloud throughout; a fun and easy (audible) read.
"Sweet, clean story!"
This was a sweet story that will make you feel good to listen to. If you're the shy type about listening to sexy books, you'll be perfectly comfortable with this one. If you're contemplating leaving a cheating husband, this will give you inspiration and hope. ❤️
"Loved this book"
Revenge is sweet!
Yes, I will give it a try.
The moment Trudy realized I can do this!
Putting the husband in place.
Thank goodness for quirky little Aunts!
Loved it. It was a very nice storyline. I am new to leisure reading and look forward to exploring and experiences.
"Funny and heartfelt."
This was a wonderful and heartfelt story that you will fully enjoy. I loved it!
Occasionally a book comes along that makes you laugh, cry, find yourself and cheer changes;this is one of those books. in my mind's eye I could see people I know doing many of the things these characters did. I hope her next book I listen to is as entertaining.
This was a cute story with likeable characters and a great narrator. It is a clean story with a little bit of hope and a woman who shows strength in starting over and keeping her head up. I really enjoyed the story.
