Danica Snow has always been the smart, practical, and appropriate sister. As a therapist, she prides herself on making reasonable, conservative choices, even if a bit boring, and as part of the Big Sister Program, she has little time for anything more in her life. Blake Carter is a player. He never gets bored of conquering women, and with his sexy good looks and successful lifestyle, he has no trouble finding willing participants. When his friend and business partner dies in a tragic accident, he suddenly, desperately, wants to change his ways. The problem is, he doesn't know how to stop doing what he does best. When Blake walks into Danica's office, the attraction between them is white hot, but Danica isn't the type to give into the heat and risk her career. Danica's desire sets her on a path of self-discovery, where she begins to question every decision she's ever made. Just this once, Danica wants to indulge in the pleasures of life she's been so willingly ignoring, but with her Little Sister in turmoil and her biological sister's promiscuousness weighing heavily on her heart, she isn't sure it's the right time to set her desires free.

"A beautiful story about love and self-growth and finding that balance to happiness. Powerfully written and riveting from beginning to end." (Jane Porter)

Pace was too slow! Was bored to tears! Characters had no depth. Will not be listening to other books in the series.
"Is this Romance?"
I would change the characters.
I have read one or two of Melissa Foster's other books in these series (I believe these are intertwined with the Bradens and Love In Bloom series.) Had I not read the other two books, I would have written Melissa off - as this book's characters were so unlike-able. Primary and secondary characters were too selfish and insecure. Danika was so insecure with her physical attributes that the book was almost over when she finally gave Blake a chance. Blake was such a d-bag so it took almost the whole book to redeem his character. I think I would have liked him better and believed his character development a lot more had I not seen his earlier interaction with other women. I think I made the mistake (from the cover) that this would be a light, entertaining romance so my expectations were not met. I'm sorry, had I known these scenes were in the book, I wouldn't have touched it. You know how authors are suppose to show, not tell - well in this instance I wish she told me and not shown me Blake's sexcapades with others. If I wanted to see that, I would have picked up an MC book - which I do from time to time. I'm sorry to stereotype this book, but Blake's blatant indiscretions killed the Romance, IMHO.

This is a beautifully crafted story about friendship, love, loss, and family dynamics. Danica and Kaylie Snow are sisters, totally opposites of each other, living in a small tourist town in the mountains of Colorado. Danica is the beautiful, smart, practical one, while Kaylie is the sexy, talented, carefree one. Danica is a Psychologist, Kaylie, is a singer.
Blake Carter is the local player. Stunt skier, successful business owner, king of the one-night stand; and he wears these badges proudly. When his best friend and business partner is suddenly killed in a skiing accident, Blake begins to take a serious look at his life and make some changes. This is the catalyst that propels this story.
Everything that transpires following the accident will change the lives of the main characters as well as a few others. Blake will discover things about himself that he never dreamed he had in him, and learn to deal with his insecurities. Danica will let go of the tight hold on her emotions and beliefs and make decisions that will affect not only her life, but could also affect many others. Kaylie, will discover and battle with one of her greatest fears and find joy in the discovery.
This story totally engulfed me from beginning to end. It has everything you could ever want in a romance novel and delivers it all in a way that will capture your heart and soul. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life and giving them their own personalities. It was a joy to listen to and I can’t wait to get the next book and see where life will take the Snow sisters next.

"makes you wait for the relationship to develop"
From the start, I was curious to see just how this story would progress: Danica is the typical repressed and uptight character, with a giant case of ‘take care of everyone’. A herculean task, as she has a sister Kaylie that took all of the wild genes in the family. Danica starts out as all points and pokes: harsh and quick to judge everyone she encounters in her personal life, she’s the epitome of someone unable to apply their knowledge to their own life. Fortunately we do see her softer and more caring side early on, as she’s a Big Sister to Michelle, a young girl desperately in need of solid caring guidance.
Blake – oh what to say about Blake. He’s so caught up in his own issues and avoidance of them that he comes off as brash, outspoken, carefree and wholly a player. Something not going his way? Use whomever is handy to distract and make him forget. Not the best quality when his distractions always center on his own sexual conquests, with no thought to after. He was not an easy character to respect, let alone like, until he actually wanted to make a change.
Danica and Blake have an instant physical attraction, but as her patient working through his own grief and choices, the potential seems limited. But, as they get to know one another, the connection grows and the two see potential. Well, if you discount Blake’s inability to keep his pants zipped up. As a couple – it took me most of the book to find the ability to both see them as a couple and want them together.
Narration by B.J. Harrison for this title was interesting. I’m familiar with his Classic Tales Podcast, and his ability to present a story’s emotional moments without overreaching and making the listener uncomfortable is present in all his work. While the character voices were not delineated with changes in pitch and tone, the presentation between narrative voice and character voices did present differences and add to the listen. A clever choice of narrator that works well with the story and holds interest.
Overall, if you are wanting a boy meets girl, boy gets girl, HEA story – this isn’t it. This story makes you work for the relationship as you struggle through (and often want to smack) the characters while they wander from good decision to bad and back to good again. They are real people, with real issues and get in their own way more than once on the way to finding one another.
I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
"The author kept me engaged in the story."
This book seemed to have more depth that the previous book I read by Melissa Foster. I enjoyed the other one, but this one was better. Blake and Danica's meeting involves and accidental elbow (his) to a nose (hers). She finds him attractive, but dislikes him as she catches him checking out other women while she stands there bleeding.
Blake is a player. Everyone knows it. Danica certainly does. Blake is shaken up by a tragedy in his life and seeks counseling. Guess who the serious, reliable therapist is? Danica is uncomfortable with him as a patient, but knows she can help him. She has her own problems. They are extreme self-confidence issues that are a little hard to believe of a therapist, but it is a novel. As they each work through their issues, the attraction between them becomes a problem for Danica. It's so unprofessional! Is he worth the changes she must make in order to have a relationship with him?
There are numerous seriously messed up characters in this book, but they all have a certain appeal and add to the story. I really enjoyed it.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
Yes, this was a good book. Very sweet and touching this is a book that makes you think about how short life can be.
This was a very sweet with a little bit of angst and a touch of drama. This is about two people that need to find them self before either of them can be happy.

So gently written and read with understanding and passion. I hated him at first but finally got him. Love him in the end
"Thoroughly enjoyed this series"
I've now finished all 3 of the 'Snow Sisters' books and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them.
Melissa Foster certainly knows exactly how to draw the reader in and hold one's attention to the very end of the book.
Each of these stories can be read as stand alones or as part of the series and every story was easy to follow and totally absorbing.
The narration enhanced the story very nicely.
I recommend this series as a must read.
