From the legendary New York Times best-selling author of Only a Kiss and Only a Promise comes the final book in the rapturous Survivor's Club series - as the future of one man lies within the heart of a lost but never-forgotten love....
For the first time since the death of his wife, the Duke of Stanbrook is considering remarrying and finally embracing happiness for himself. With that thought comes the treasured image of a woman he met briefly a year ago and never saw again.
Dora Debbins relinquished all hope to marry when a family scandal left her in charge of her younger sister. Earning a modest living as a music teacher, she's left with only an unfulfilled dream. Then, one afternoon, an unexpected visitor makes it come true.
For both George and Dora, that brief first encounter was as fleeting as it was unforgettable. Now is the time for a second chance. And while even true love comes with a risk, who are two dreamers to argue with destiny?

"The best series yet..."
I loved the Survivor Series and bought it in paperback and audible versions. they are so good I listen to the, more than once.
"Well paced story"
It is nice to have a story that starts with a marriage, since we all know that's where it is going. The twist, unfortunately, is one we have seen before in her other books and is a bit predictable. That said, this was a lovely end to the survivor series.
"Great ending to a fabulous series."
I have loved this entire series and I was really looking forward to George's book. As usual, Mary Balogh did not disappoint. Rosalyn Landor is a master narrator, she is always good.
"Loved this Book!!"
I love this narrator as I have heard her perform before! I loved the story because throughout reading the other books in the series I always wondered about George. :)
You can never go wrong with a Mary Balogh story. Some of her characters are so unpredictable.
Glad to see George get his HEA. And Dora was a pleasant surprise. Very interesting and engaging story and series.
"Repetition, Introspection and Description"
Not a lot of action.
Each main character spent ages in angst over how their perfect wedding day was ruined but still perfect and even though it was perfect it was still the worst day ever.
Most of the book is spent explaining the main couple's feelings and their descriptions of the various settings, clothing, furniture, flowers, musical instruments, etc. So each sceen had to be told from each characters point of view. And again everything is perfect except it is just not perfect.
The narrator was very good.
I suggest you only read/listen to this novel only if you are a big fan of the Survivors Series and want to read a post script of those previous stories.
"great reader for a even greater story"
I thought reading the book was great but listening to it was even better. the reader made this book come alive.
"Good Ending to Series"
I LOVED this series. I was very excited to finally see the Duke of Stanbrook's story. It was a good story too. I was very happy to see that Dora finally found true love. This was a very good ending to a GREAT series.
"This book has no plot"
A forty year old divorcee hoping to find love again
Its a very sweet story and well written
8 hours into a 10 hour book and I still have not found the plot. Its a sweet story but incredibly boring which is unfortunate because I enjoy this particular authors books and writing style but this one didn't hit the mark.
