Hidden in London is a legendary power. A fabled chest guards secrets more precious than gold.
But in 1666 secrets are deadly, and London is burning....
Charlie Tuesday is the city's best thief taker. But one case still eludes him, a mysterious key entrusted by the mother he barely knew. The key opens a chest of priceless papers - papers said to hold the dark alchemy of a lost Brotherhood.
As flames ravage the city, the thief taker must track the chest into London's blackest heart, where smugglers trade and sorcerers conjure. What Charlie begins to unravel is more ancient and powerful than he ever dreamed.
But time is running out and fire is the greatest purge of all.

Like tge thieftaker, the fire catcher is equally interesting and engrossing story with surprising twists and detailed detours. CS Quinn is phenomenal in creating 17th century London and the all purvading marauding London fire. Napolean Ryan is as good as ever and he indeed put additional life to an already well knit story. hats off to them both.

Just as gripping.. just as many twists and turns..great read..really enjoyed listening to it. Thanks
I loved the historical accuracy in this book. It's obviously a work of fiction, with the main characters fictional, but the accuracy of the geography and the historical characters is interesting and educational.
it's also great when you get off the tube at Moorgete and walk past the Guild House on your way to Gresham Street just as you listen to that part of the story!
I loved this story and all the details and flavours of the restoration period which has in turn made me want to read some more about the period in general. I loved the reader also who went effortlessly between the deep patrician voice of the villain to the female voice of Charlie's sidekick and for me enhanced the story. No let up in pace and could not wait to keep getting back to it. Great denoument in the crypt with the dead wife. Only sad when I finished it.
I liked the history and details
I would think about it
I liked Ryan's reading at first but after 14 hours the voices began to grate
I was worn-out by hour 10 but was glad I finished
