A place where vampires rule, witches play, danger lurks and dreams really do come true.
Eternal Island is a paranormal suspense novel, deeply rooted into myth. Vampires and magic form a unique backdrop to a love story with long reaching consequences. Human girl Ariana Lochalan finds herself transported from the relative calm of her 'Nowhere, Arkansas' life into a diametrically opposite existence when she discovers she is a powerful witch and meant to wed High Vampire of Eternal Island, Abe Cambridge. Despite first-sight magnetism, the two protagonists are being pushed apart, obstacles tripping them at every step, outside forces interfering and threatening their peace, and ultimately their lives. A world rich in magic and intrigue, Eternal Island is the first instalment of a saga which has love at its core and delves through the mire that is human nature in a turmoil of feeling and emotion.
Would courage, resilience and love be enough to bring together two soul mates?
How much would you sacrifice to save the one who owns your heart?

Reading is a passion and an obsession.
This is the first book in an intriguing paranormal romance series. I loved it!
I downloaded this book as an audio book, so that I could listen to it while doing household chores. This audio book was narrated by Melora Kordos, who did an excellent job in bringing this story to life. I loved her interpretation of the story and found her narration a pleasure to listen to.
Adriana Lochlan is a character I liked very much. She is a human, who has suffered a terrible loss, and she finds out that she is a witch and destined to marry the High Vampire of Eternal Island. She, unfortunately, does not cope with stress very well and tends to faint at the smallest provocation, but she grows a backbone as the story progressed. I loved watching this character grow into the person she was always meant to be.
Abe Cambridge is the High Vampire of Eternal Island. He is a great character, but I thought he could have had a more deadly alpha vibe. Nevertheless, he is a fair and just ruler of the Island and his subjects respect him.
This is a totally unique paranormal romance. I was intrigued with the premise of the story and was hooked from the beginning. The characters have their own quirks and foibles. The story is told from various points of view, which gave the story an interesting twist. I did, however, find some of the dialogue so cheesy, I cringed! However, this cheesiness gave the characters, especially Abe, an endearing quality. I don't know if it was the interpretation and inflections of the narrator, but I found myself doing more than one eye roll at the apparent teenage reactions in a nine hundred and fifty four year old vampire. Granted, he had never been in love before, so these emotions were new to Abe, but I wanted to smack him on the back of his head and tell him to "snap out of it"! However, I loved the tongue in cheek humour, which had me giggling in places.
There are some other intriguing characters in the story. I really liked meeting Rainey, a talented psychic and witch. She has a wicked sense of humour! I also liked meeting Jonah, who also happened to be Abe's cousin. This character is witty, a bit of a ladies man and charismatic, but he is also loyal. I wasn't overly fond of Julia and Max. These two characters were rather dark and dangerous. Julia is a witch and a vampire, who is determined to be the High Vampiss of the Island and is willing to kill for it. Max is under her spell.
The story is full of twists and turns, suspense and mystery; the romance aspect was sweet and loving. I loved the ending, and I am now looking forward to reading/listening to the second book as soon as possible.
K.S. Haigwood and Ella Medler have written a wonderful paranormal romance. I loved their fast paced writing style, and the flow of the story was wonderful.
I recommend this story if you love older YA or paranormal romance genres. - Lynn Worton
It ranks with the best of them. I really enjoyed the story and the way it was performed.
Rainey. I think her visions are cool and she's pretty spunky. Gotta love a girl who speaks her mind.
I think Melora really brings the characters to life. I love getting to focus on picturing the story in my head while she brings out their personalities with her performance.
Yes! When I was listening to a funny scene on my headphones I burst out laughing and my daughter gave me a funny look and eyeroll, like I was crazy lol.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series!
"Take me to Eternal Island"
To have an audio version of a book you already love can be scary to listen to because you don't want it to not be great. This one is great and it just enhanced my experience with this book. It's like getting a movie made of your favorite book, only the actors are the very ones you thought they would be, and no one has cut the book up so much you don't recognize it. It's the entire book being told to you and you get to experience all the feelings you read it the first time. I just closed my eyes and got swept away.
This story is beautiful because it is crazy exciting, loving, heartbreaking, and full of emotion. Never are you certain what will happen or how it will happen. The characters are strong and just make each other better. The story behind each character will just suck you in and make you want more.
There were so many scenes I loved and each time I think about them they bring back the emotions I had when I first read it. I think my favorite part is the initial pond scene when Abe jumps in fully clothed. It was a point in the book where a reader can tell he has really changed and everything is now about his love for Ariana, not just about work or taking care of everyone else.
Yes. I almost made it also but had to sleep. I did listen through lunch and dinner though. The voices of the characters were pleasant and entertaining. It was easy to distinguish between them with no confusion of who was speaking.
Haigwood and Medler did an exceptional job developing a story line that will keep you interested in these characters to the very end...and beyond. In fact, I'm off to the next book Eternal Immortality. Try this wonderful story of witches, vampires, humans, tigers, and lions, but no bears.
I loved all the clever witty ways of the characters.
Ariana is my favorite, followed by Abe. Rainey was cool too!
This is a book I would have liked to read in one sitting, alas sleep was calling me.
I have just finished listening to Eternal Island in audiobook format! OMG, this is
a great book! Even the cover of this book is perfect & pretty much sums up the
book. These authors have brainstormed 1 fantastic book. I found it to be witty,
charming, suspenseful, interesting, & a very cleverly written Paranormal story.
The authors had put a lot of thought into this book. At one point, it even made me
cry. I love a great tear jerk-er too. I found myself staying up late because I
didn't want to turn it off. I loved the characters in it too. Especially Ariana &
Abe. I hated Max & Julia. I really wanted to see them burn!!! There was a lot of
suspense in this book. It was like a roller coaster. Just when I thought it was
safe, something else would happen. Definitely a page turner. I love a good book &
I love it even more in audio format. Then I can pick up on the emotions of the
characters too! I am looking forward to the next book in this series, although I
will have to read it myself. I had to laugh at the authors idea of Nowhere
Arkansas as having been in Arkansas myself, I have to agree with that (gave me a
chuckle). Good job ladies! Off to book 2.
"The eternal series"
This audiobook is a very creative story. The book suggests that there very well might be alot we dont know about. The Eternal island is hidden from the outside world and those who would do the residents harm but it is different from the outside world in that witches and vampires live together. Very good story.
"Eternal FAN!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this series so far!!"
LOVE this worl that KS Hiagwood has created!!! I have fallen head over heels for Eternal Island and everyone on it. Audio books are my life blood lately and the only way I get to "read" so to find such an AMAZING book on audio makes me wish it would never end! I cant wait for the rest of the series to come out on audio!!!! Magic, vampires, witches I LOVE IT ALL!!!!!! I could live in this world forever!!!!!!!!!
"a must listen to"
fantastic, romance, action
Adriana is my favorite because she tries to handle every situation no matter how bad it is. She shows a lot of emotion through out the whole story and you can tell how the story teller brings that out.
no I have not
I had to take a couple days to listen to the whole thing because it is so long but it is a great audio.
This is not slow paced by any means and you can hear the emotions from the way this book is told. The characters are fascinating and so is the island and its surroundings.
I loved this audio because it has vampires, witches, humans and 1 really bad demon and the story is great. Any paranormal romance lover would appreciate this audio and have it in their collection.
I've had this audio for some time and I kept pushing it back and I could kick myself for doing so. This story is wonderful and I absolutely LOVED it. The next story, Eternal Immortality is The second and its just as great as this one. This story is a paranormal suspense, with vampires, magic, and there's alot of other things in this story. K.S. Haigwood has written another story that you can't help but fall in love with. She had another author join in creating this series. I don't know much about author Ella Medler but I know this story is perfect and she helped in writing it. The characters are wonderful and it was easy to connect with them. Who wouldn't want an island that's invisible and still have the perks of a normal island? There's simple rules that go with being able to live there, like you can have a visit but before you leave your memory is erased of ever being there. I wouldn't care, I definitely want to go there. Its a brilliant story, well thought out, and written to perfection. This story is captivating, spellbinding, and breathtaking. Its a fast paced story and I listened to it without stopping. The story is intense, exciting, and filled with emotion.
The narrator Mebra Kordos brought the characters to life. I haven't listened to anything by this narrator but she did a superb job with her performance. She did a perfect job with the accents of each character and their personalities. I didn't have any trouble knowing the character who was speaking throughout the story. She did an amazing job. I highly recommend that you give this story a listen. I guarantee you'll enjoy it as much as I have.
"I wanted to like this book...."
I agree with Anna's review. The storyline wasn't even close to believable. It seemed to be written by a 13 year old girl where everything you wished came true. I liked the premise of the story but the actual writing was beyond terrible. I did not enjoy the narration either. I would not recommend this book.
"Don't waste your credit"
I know this will seem ridiculous, but I like story lines that have "some believability" to them, even when it is about vampire. This book was so bad, even my daughter who is not picky at all said, and I quote... "did a 12 year old girl write this book?"
I think it was the story that ruined it for me not so much the narrator.
I would just not purchase the book
