In this highly anticipated fifteenth novel in the Immortals After Dark series, number one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole spins a sultry tale of a mighty warrior scarred inside and out and the beguiling sorceress with the power to heal him - or vanquish him forever.
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families' war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body-and left an even deeper impression on his soul.
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she's never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he's a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.
Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

"No one does it like Kresley Cole"
Few authors manage to keep a complex storyline fresh through so many books (14) like Kresley Cole. Throughout the series Cole has paired the most unusual but credible characters who are each so different, with different challenges and personalities. But in this installment we finally get an inkling as to the method for the madness in delicious returns of recurring characters like Nix. In this tale we get glimpses into why Nix has been meddlingg since the beginning of the series, and we get further direction into Nix's own story arc.
What has surprised me so much is how so many books she wrote in the series have a point-in-time intersection in the immortal prison island and then each expand outward in different plots. Many of these such as Declan and Regin, Malkom & Carrow, Uiellum & Chloe and of course the incomparable lunatic Lothaire ( recent books preceding Dark Skye), follow a similar outline of epic obstacles in the fantasy multi-verse, romantically resistant characters, but feature such richly detailed stories they each stand out and alone.
Cole's uniqueness in this genre is her ability to weave complex but riveting adventurous tales of romantic pursuit, with strong physical desires that become tempered by intense self-sacrificial love. While Cole doesn't hold back describing erotic scenes, one isn't struck by the gratuitous nature of the scenes, but a furthering of the growing bonds between our two heros.
Of course, the series wouldn't be so wonderful to listen to had anyone but Robert Petkoff been the performer. Petkoff's versatility in voices and accents is astounding. I've listened to around 500 audiobooks in the past few years, and few compare to his flawless and compelling delivery.
If you are new to Kresley Cole, note that the price of the audiobooks is one of the best buys in romantic fiction. Superb writing, excellent suspense and adventure, crazy poignant love stories and some of the best audio performance out there--the prices of many of the books in this series are well below a credit and making it the best bang for your romance buck.
Strongly recommend this book for credit or cash.
"Kresley Cole is an author that never disappoints"
Hands down one of the best paranormal romance series EVER! Most tend to get stale after too many books, but this one keeps getting better and better. This is number 14 in the Immortals After Dark series and it is as fresh as the first. I love how Ms. Cole weaves the timelines of her books together and revisits moments we have seen by other characters in previous books. It's just brilliant! I wish I could give this book (and the series) 10 stars!
"Phenomenal... wasn't ready for it to end."
Kresley Cole writing skills and Robert Petkoff narrating abilities make the whole series work. Together they make "Immortals After Dark" phenomenal.
How Thronos and Lanthe first met and his cute nick name for her. ****Spoiler Alert**** Also, it touched me at the end of the story when he was getting his memory back he used her nick name. SO... touching!
Honestly... all of them.
I wasn't ready for it to end by a long shot. I wanted more.... Kresley makes characters and stories come to life.
Buy it NOW! You wont regret it at all. Buy the whole series if you haven't already!!!
I enjoyed this story but it wasn't my favorite in the series. I enjoyed Lothaire much more. All Melanthe had to do was actually communicate instead of run and all problems would have been solved from the very beginning....I also didn't like how she kept saying she was searching for man who would love her. She had one all along:/
"Not among my favorites in the series"
This one is not among my top 5 in this series. It was good but I have had way better in this series.
Thronos and Melanthe were introduced in book Kiss of a Demon King, I had wondered about this two.
Thronos and Lanthe were childhood best friends. The Vrekener prince and the sorceri were not supposed to hang out, but Thronos would sneak to Lanthe as often as he could. When the Vrekeners slaughtered the Sorceri, Lanthe couldn't forgive Thronos, and so even though she knew he was her fated one, she ran from Thronos.
Of course when Nix started maneuvering everyone to that jail were Declan and the Order imprisoned the Lore creatures, Nix directed Thronos there so he could find Lanthe.
Then the next 8 hours of the book was full of bickering and it just got of my nerves after all. It wasn't even good banter. It lasted way to long so by the time they got lovey dovey, it was anti-climatic for me. I didn't like Lanthe as much as I liked Sabine. But I liked Thronos and I felt that he had genuine beef with Lanthe's looseness. I supported his gripes and I felt him. If the author took off just a little of the animosity and mistrust, this reunion of childhood friends would have been sweeter
One of my faves, I did not want it to end, I look forward to seeing them in future stories and see how they are doing. Great storyline with lots of familiar faces, I don't know how Petkoff keeps them all straight, but he does and is wonderful at it!
"EVERY HOUR LOST IN WRITING THIS IT WAS SO WORTH IT"
Well KC's done it again.... she's given her fans a funny, touching, exciting, emotional, mesmerising and action-packed story that's hauntingly touching as the friendship between the doomed young Immortals all too soon turns into hate and obsession. But, as the now scarred and damaged Thronos, finally captures Lanthe and their perilous journey begins trust, belief, faith in each other, love and plenty of sex gives them the HEA. However, in true KC style there's still more open mouthed shocks, surprises and twists still to come.
And, as usual, it was read by the Maestro of Narrators RP who brings to life a whole host of characters and creatures and gives each well-written sentence just the right vocal inflection so you feel the thrill, or the sadness or the joy as if you were there experiencing it with them. KC and RP what a team, I'm standing up applauding you both for jobs well done.... now please give us an encore.
Worth a credit? I've happily already used 14 credits on the IAD series and, if KC keeps writing them, then I'll gladly keep spending them.... so that folks is a big fat YES.
"This whole serie is one of the Best!!!!!!"
I love this serie and I love the narrator Robert , it is sooo good ,
There is nothing Else to say !!!!
Try it , it is worth all the money !
"Love Kressly Cole!!!"
Robert Petkoff is amazing!
When they were children and he called her Lamb.
When they thought they were in the meadow.
I had an extreme reaction to Nix's side story/ When they found Fury and when Lanthe read Lothaire's letter.
I don't like the Sorceri. They are my least favorite in the lore. They are physically weak and whiny.
This story was my absolute favorite. There was so much heart break in this book. They lost 500 years because of misunderstandings, and familial blood feuds. They lost so much. When they finally overcome everything it's everything you need it to be.
When Lanthe took his hand.
His voice is perfect. The way he conveys emotion is flawless. The accents are perfect.
