About this listen

Winner of the 2018 Audiobook Reviewer Award for Romance

One wedding, two best men, one hell of a love story!

Declan Ramsay's brother Oliver was marrying Annabelle Aiken at a fairytale castle on the banks of Loch Ness in Scotland. The bride and groom decided that Annabelle's gay younger brother would share the best man duties with Declan. Declan had never met the kid who was to be his joint best man. Sam Aiken was abroad, working as an interpreter and finishing his studies. He wouldn't meet Declan until a few days before the wedding, so the best men communicated and planned their speech by email for more than a year.

But on meeting Sam Aiken, Declan is surprised to realize the kid isn't a kid at all, but a tall, blond, and athletic young man. Declan is sure he's straight, so he's alarmed by the ferocious attraction he feels for Sam. And as the attraction is reciprocated, the events at Dunloch Castle change everything Declan has ever believed about himself.

But, is Samuel Aiken all that he appears to be?

I think I might have accidentally stumbled on to an M/M gem with Shatterproof Bond.
If book one is anything to go by I have an interesting ride to come.
This story occurs at a Scottish castle and so immediately that got my attention. Sam and Declan are adorble characters from the get go and Gary Furlong's sublime narration and accents just amplified the story- turning a good book into an amazing story.
I won't say anything about the plot because you have to listen to understand just what fun this book is. And the twist at the end, well. Lets just say I was hooked and downloaded the rest of the series.

A different take on the GFY trope. It is well written, intelligent, sexy, and entertaining. I recommend it!

What was one of the most memorable moments of As You Wish?
I think myself it was how Declan and Sam interaction with each other, Sam's sister wedding with two best men, very entertaining. Also there's a surprise at the end,

Gary Furlong was amazing, his smooth voice set the tone of the whole book, his take on all the characters was astonishing,

I was given a free copy for an honest review from the author. Declan and Sam make a great couple. Declan has always been straight until meeting with Sam who is one of the Best man in Oliver and Annabelle's wedding along side with Declan. They have become friends via email for the last 12 months but finally meet in an airport accident. From there the fun begins love blossoms but Sam is keeping a huge secret that finally gets revealed at the end of the book which I didn't see coming. Can't wait to continue on the journey. Isobel is a new author to me who I will definitely be checking out the other books she has written.
This is a new narrator to me and I loved his different inflections especially his Scottish accent. Will definitely be looking for more

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B

as good as the ebook
