Summary

The eighth book in the best-selling Dan 'Spider' Shepherd series.

Kidnapping is one of the cruellest crimes - lives are put at risk for cold, hard cash. But when Somali pirates seize the crew of a yacht off the coast of Africa, they bite off more than they can chew.

One of the hostages has friends in high places, and Spider Shepherd is put on the case. He goes deep undercover in an audacious plan to bring an end to the pirate gang's reign of terror.

But as Shepherd closes in on his quarry, he realises that there's much more at stake than the lives of the hostages and that the pirates are involved in a terrorist plot that will strike at the heart of London.

outstanding as usual.

I love Stephen leathers books. and this spider shepherd is another good installment. yes we know pretty much how each book is going to end blah blah but it's the multiple stories at play and the twists and how it's believable enough so you can enjoy every moment that make them so enjoyable. plus what seals it is the narrator being just fantastic too.
I think this is my 3rd reread of the spider shepherd's after I've just finished my 4th reread of Jack nightingale series (also fantastic if your into the occult), and I've no doubt once I'm done I'll return at some point to begin all over again.

Another great story from Stephen Leather

This is an excellent narrated book by Paul Thornley, who keeps the audience captive through the superb storytelling from Stephen Leather. While each novel is outstanding in its own right, the thread between novel can be seen and therefore the reader sees and experiences the continuation of the main character.

super

possibly the best so far of many excellent reads from Stephen and Paul, best narrator ever despite his dodgy irish accents and worse irish language skills 🤣

Fair Game

Of all the Spider Shepherd series this is the best one so far. Starts a little slow but stick with it because the intricate stories all come together at the end to keep you guessing. Difficult to put it down - stayed awake half the night twice

Spider's world

This story is about a world where bodies pile up but nobody is bothered as long as Britain's best goody is there to make sure that the citizens are protected. The baddies come in many shades of very bad and are certainly up to no good but not to worry - Spider is on the case. Although I may sound critical, i actually I hugely enjoy these books as they provide the kind of escapism that one needs these days. In fact the only "fault" that I found in the story was the way the last baddy was dispatched of as if the author was in a hurry to tie up all remaining loose ends. Still, I suppose it was needed to make the required link with opening scenes. Waiting eagerly for the next Spider adventure.
