Publisher's Summary

Adele Blackthorne is a big girl, a curvy chick. She knows it, and she's been picked on all her life because of it. But she's gotten to the stage where she doesn't care. She may be Rubenesque, but she's healthy, too. Much healthier than the mean girls at the leisure center that point and stare and say spiteful things about her. Adele rises above it all, and simply enjoys her secretive glances at the center's hunky lifeguard, Oliver.

As the bullying of Adele becomes worse, Oliver finds it increasingly difficult not to intervene. He doesn't want to get into trouble with work, but equally he can't stand to see Adele treated in such a horrible way. Especially since he doesn't agree that she's fat and unattractive. He thinks she's a seriously sexy woman, and would like to get to know her better. Much better.

    Story
"Short in length and heavy on delightful content!"

This book is a snapshot into the start of a wonderfully sexy, fun and mature relationship. Interestingly, it doesn't begin from first sight. The two characters, Adele and Oliver are already aware of each other, attracted to each other and equally unsure of themselves. They both know what they like, know what they want and suffer from a slight lack of confidence. I suppose sometimes we see ourselves so clearly that we miss the parts of ourselves that are truly amazing. This is definitely true of the protagonists.

That said, this short, easy-to-listen-to story is a celebration of attraction in all its forms and a poignant criticism of today's standards of beauty. It is delightfully funny and remarkable real in its approach to insecurities, sex and the preconceived expectations of beauty. For such a short story to do all this and not miss out on keeping-it-real (and a little messy) sex is pretty incredible.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

    "An ode to plus-sized women!"
    Any additional comments?

I knew from the title that this listen would involve women behaving badly but since it was only two hours, I figured it wasn't going to be a long, drawn out angsty listen. (I hate those.) It was not.

I liked the story. I liked that it was basically a love story of self. I LOVED that it was set in England! (That was an unexpected extra bonus to my ears.) There was a bit more sex at the ending than I prefer but that's just me.

I do wish the author would have let Adele, the main character, handle the mean girls. Letting Oliver, Adele's love interest, settle the score was a bit anti-climactic.

The narration is why I kept listening though. Xanthia Bloom (how great is that name!) was perfection on a stick.

This short listen is definitely worth your time, especially because of the narrator.

"Good story"

this was a british bbw erotic romance. I didnt know it was a British book but since it was an audio book it felt interactive, like I was listening to something on BBC radio, lol.

I liked that Adele was confident and a size 20 (about a US 18) because I'm super tired of fat women lacking confidence in romance.

It's still very cishet and white, side from a side character, so it prevented a good story being a great one for me, but I heavily enjoyed. very good narrator too. I received this via Audiobook Boom.

    "Quick and Satisfying"

Adele is a confident woman, a business owner, and a great cook. She also happens to be plus sized, although she's healthy and spends at least three days a week at her local leisure center. Adele doesn't let her weight define her, and she ignores the snickers and comments of the other women at the pool.

Oliver, a young lifeguard at the leisure center, has a harder time ignoring the rude comments and stares. Adele happens to be his perfect woman, and her sweet smile and bubbly ways attract him more than any of the bikini clad women at the pool. He finally gathers his courage to ask Adele out, but just when things start to look up for them the mean girls show up again.

I really like the message of self empowerment in this book. Adele's confidence is endearing, and Oliver is just awkward enough to be adorable. I prefer realistic characters, and both Adele and Oliver are human enough to be real and interesting. This was a quick read with plenty of steamy action.

The narrator did a good job, I enjoyed her narration. She spoke quickly, but I slowed the audio down to .95x and had no trouble after that. She spoke with a subtle variation between characters that made it easy to understand who was speaking. I received a copy of the audiobook and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

"Love Attraction Coming From Who You Are Sweet Sexy"

    Wow I loved this story.
Adele is large girl in her late 30's who is active, funny, smart and confident in herself. There is still some self consciousnesses because of how she is sometimes talked about. Primarily the 3 mean girls (witches) at the athletic club she works out and where she swims. They loudly say nasty things about hero she can hear.
Oliver is life guard, cute, hot body and also a little reserved. He's attracted to Adele but shy to approach her. His issue is woman have always approached him and he hasn't had to do anything to have a girlfriend and is shy to approach Adele.
A short story it hits all the important points to keep you interested and I loving the hero and heroine. Also the story showing it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside you may have self confidence issues plus everyone is attracted to different people.
Loved the narrators British accent...she was fast paced but perfect! I'll listen to her anytime!
Really worth a listen...got some nice heat as well!

    "More to Love"

Lucy Felthouse is a new author to me. I appreciate the fact that she writes about someone who is big, buxom and beautiful (both on the outside as well as inside). As someone who is curvy, it is nice that some men can find someone over size 10 attractive. (Only a swimmer can understand the dedication of swimming 30 laps) I also appreciate the author's sense of humor. This short listen was refreshing and realistic. The narrator did a great performance as well. I was provided with this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The story of Adele and Oliver was both sweet and sexy. I loved it how Oliver stood up for Adele infront of the "mean girls"

"An adult book with a wonderful moral"

So many of us can relate to Adele. It is hard to live life as a plus size with "mean girls" everywhere. Adele masters that with self confidence. Her ability to ignore the mean girls gets her noticed by the one guy all the girls are after. What a wonderful, upbeat story.

The narrators voice was easy to listen to bit was a bit too fast. At times it was hard to understand the narrator and since she read quickly, there was little time to decipher words.

    "Quick enjoyable listen"

Quick, easy listen with a great message. I love stories about women who are not perfect. The story of Oliver and Adele is sweet. The two have been attracted to each other for a while and Oliver finally made the move. Being a big girl, Adele has put up with snide comments and putdowns so when the good looking man makes the move, there is talk. The reaction of Oliver is priceless and really puts in perspective how beauty is both inside and out.

Xanthia Bloom is the narrator. It took me a little while to adjust to her accent and found that she read very quickly. At times it was hard to understand. She does have differentiation between voices and is pleasant to the ear.
