Und was hat es mit den geheimnisvollen Geräuschen im Moor auf sich, die wie das Heulen eines Hundes klingen? Unermüdlich versucht Watson, Licht in das Dunkel zu bringen, und weiß bald selbst nicht mehr, woran er glauben soll. Zum finalen Höhepunkt im schaurigen Dartmoor steht ihm der Meisterdetektiv wieder zur Seite und kann in letzter Sekunde die Katastrophe verhindern.
