Summary

Start intercept: Sporadic reports indicate chaos and violence spreading through U.S. cities. An unknown evil is sweeping the planet. The dead are rising to claim the Earth as the new dominant species in the food chain. Intercept complete.

In your hands is the handwritten journal depicting one man's struggle for survival. Trapped in the midst of global disaster, he must make decisions; choices that ultimately mean life, or the eternal curse to walk as one of them. Enter, if you will, into the world of the undead.

Critic reviews

"There is zombie fiction and then there is crawl-out-of-the-grave-and-drag-you-to-hell zombie fiction. Day by Day Armageddon is hands down the best zombie book I have ever read. Dawn of the Dead meets 28 Days Later doesn't even come close to describing how fantastic this thriller is. It is so real, so terrifying, and so well written that I slept with not one, but two loaded Glocks under my pillow for weeks afterwards. J. L. Bourne is the new king of hardcore zombie action!" (Brad Thor, New York Times #1 best-selling author)

Excellent

Loved this book, not what I usual listen to. The diary style of writing really works. Downloaded book two straight away.

COMPULSIVE LISTENING!

I LOVED this audio book. It is brilliantly written and performed. The fear and stark reality of the situation are so well and so frankly illustrated.
My only complaint... the ending was too abrupt. It could have taken another chapter or two, or maybe even a sequel? I was definitely left wanting more!

Awesome. Nuff said.

Would you listen to Day By Day Armageddon again? Why?

I have listened to this book more than once already. As a big zombie fan it is hard to find a really good zombie tale. There is some real tosh out there. Just because you put zombies in a story does not mean its good. You can't just tap into the cash cow of a genre that is zombies and hope that will carry it. This book on the other hand is a hoot all the way through. Great story and it is very detailed in things that happen and the people involved.

What other book might you compare Day By Day Armageddon to, and why?

I'm not sure i could compare this book to any others i have read. If i had to i would say it is a as good a read as World War Z. (Book not film)

Have you listened to any of Jay Snyder’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Does the other books from Day by Day count? i would listen to other books read by Jay Snyder because he does a really good job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could easily listen to this in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

if i could say anything to the author if would be "Keep up the good work and do more".

Diary format - very immersive.

Would you listen to Day By Day Armageddon again? Why?

Yes. I have done many times over the years since I downloaded it. Jay Snyder's performance was excellent, it felt as though he wrote the journal entries himself. He made the events come alive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Not really applicable. Being a Journal it feels like an account. So to say you like characters is a bit much because its just the authors viewpoint being expressed you meet others but you only adopt his thoughts and emotions as expressed in his journal.

What does Jay Snyder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

As said above - he does this book/journal justice. He makes it come alive. His tones in this performance have a sense of gravity and circumstance that makes it come alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! Being a journal you need to devour it, to learn more of the world he inhabited.

Any additional comments?

Like Doomsday preppers? Like found footage movies? Like zombies? This book lets you live in that world in a way you just dont get in other zombie books.

I shouldn’t love it, but I do

Is this going to win the Pulitzer Prize? No. Did I really like it anyway? Yes. Probably best approached by those who are really into apocalyptic survival and zombies, if you aren’t, the rather sober writing style won’t be for you.

Gripping

I made the mistake of listening to this story before going to sleep, and had to stay awake most of the night as I really got involved and anxious about the protagonists. You have been warned!

Was ok, for a 2 for 1 deal.
Too much technology detail, too little peril or character detail, as if it was a report carried out by a robot at the end of the day, rather than a person’s diary. Subsequently, I didn’t really care enough to engage.
