Summary

A Warhammer 40,000 Novel

Cypher has slipped his bonds on Holy Terra itself. Hunted by some of the most powerful forces the Imperium can muster, can he complete his mission before he’s apprehended?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Cypher is one of the most mysterious figures in the galaxy, and this novel sheds light on his motivations and thoughts. Although, told from Cypher’s own point of view, his words are suspect by default...

THE STORY

As the Great Rift unfolds in the night sky above Terra and daemons walk upon the birth world of mankind, the Primarch Roboute Guilliman returns, heralding a dark new age.

During the breaking storm, Cypher and his band of Fallen escape from the most secure prison in the Imperium. Now loose in the Imperial Palace, they are hunted by warriors of the Dark Angels, forces of the Adeptus Custodes, and Imperial Assassins. But what are Cypher’s intentions? Can anything or anyone be trusted?

Told from Cypher’s own, unreliable point of view, this tale of truth, lies and secrets sees one of the Imperium’s most mysterious figures make war at its very heart. But what are the true motivations of the Lord of the Fallen?

a delicious puzzle box of a novel

A really excellent 40k novel that unfolds with pleasing measured pace. The narrative voice is incredibly strong, and it works particularly well in audio. Highly recommended.

It’s marvellous, or is it?

Evil Dark Angels, desperate Fallen, a scorned demigod and an enigma as a storyteller. What else could you possibly want?

Excellent performance- a new narrator to watch out for

Really interesting story - I’d held off due to its short run time, but it’s definitely going to get another couple of listens

I realy live this book

Having heard over 100+ books from 30k to 40k, this is one of my favourites.

I first want to give a shout-out to Jon Rand. Your voice is by far the best space marine voice and perfect for this kind of VActing.
Please accept your destiny and narrate all alpha legion books from this point onward.

You are the Kobe beef of voice acting.

Anny way,
The personal narration from Cypher in this book is perfect, The main character is talking to the fans, and he knows perfectly well that even tho we as fans want to know the truth, it would spoil the mystery that is so enticing and that drives discussion in the community, e.g the lost primearchs (not mentioned in the book, just an example)

Having read/heard most of the Dark Angel lore, it also shows you just how far the 1st legion is willing to go

It also does the custodians' justice by showing them as the one man army they are and not just having them either be god-like or easy kill for the protagonist.

There are plot twists and 3d chess moves from cypher in the book that was really entertaining 👏
I'm still not convinced Cypher isn't one of 20th primearchs but time will tell

Highly recommended book in audio form

Such an intriguing read

wow this was a great book. the style it's delivered in was great. You maybe be wondering if it's really that good or if it's worth listening too. you ask for the truth. But really you should be asking for a secret

Exciting but a bit unsubstential story-wise

Performance is above and beyond, bringing Cypher to life perfectly, writing style is spot on as well.

Cypherius

Keeps you guessing. Cypher the book keeps you in the Dark pretty much the same amount as Cypher the Dark Angel fools and schools whoever is after him.

This book is a tight package, John French tends to be 'wordy', but Cypher really has nothing extra in it. It just works.
