Former singer and current assistant dorm director Heather Wells is drawn into another mystery investigation when the head of a college cheerleader turns up in the dorm kitchen with no body attached. Kristen Kairos entertains as the sweet, sassy, and a bit overly critical of herself Heather, who is pretty sure she is on a path to happiness, but befuddled why it has to be littered with hysterical students, an ex-con father, and an ex-lover whose upcoming "Celebrity Wedding of the Decade" isn't keeping him from constantly calling her. On the upside, she isn't complaining that her landlord, a handsome private investigator, is also in the mix..
Surrounded by hysterical students, and with her ex-con father on her doorstep and her ex-love bombarding her with unwanted phone calls, Heather welcomes the opportunity to play detective...again. If it gets her mind off her personal problems -- and teams her up again with the gorgeous P.I. who owns the brownstone where she lives -- it's all good. But the murder trail is leading the average-sized amateur investigator into a shadowy world. And if she doesn't watch her step, Heather will soon be singing her swan song!

A really sick premise starts this book out on the wrong foot and a weird plot just ocntinues to make this book not one of my favorites. IT was, of course, Meg Cabot, :) But this was definitely not one of her best. I would suggest How to Be Popular. That is a great one.
I spent a nice time with this book. It was fascinating story. Great narrative. I recommends that book for everyone.
"Love Heather Wells!"
So happy to finally be able to listen to the earlier books as well. Listen when doing data entry and it helps the time fly!
"Read the books and enjoyed in audio as well"
No, I liked both versions very much.
I love the Heather/Cooper dynamic. This particular story was fun and engaging. Of course Heather periodically irritates me, but that's mostly because she's not yet laying a big ol' kiss on Cooper. Oh and she has a talent for putting her life in jeopardy ;)
Good job on the variety of voices. She also brought Heather to life. Having read the book first, I wasn't sure if I'd feel a disconnect to Heather and the characters, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would absolutely listen to a story narrated by her again.
Entertaining, slight mystery, family drama, and a bit of romance (or at least romantic aspirations!)... All in all a fun story!
"Heather Wells strikes again"
I love Meg Cabot, and the Heather Wells books are some of my favorites. I could do without the song exerts at the front of each chapter but other than that I find these books highly entertaining and hope that she does more with these characters.
The main character is very enjoyable and easy to like. The book isn't all that deep but very funny in places.
"Not so great."
This book was king of boring. I managed to get through it but was glad when it was over. Not very exciting and the headless cheerleader just seemed out of place with the rest of the characters feel of the book.
