Summary
The unabridged, digital audiobook edition of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Mercy, Scandinavia’s new bestselling crime phenomenon.
Read by the actor Steven Pacey. At first the prisoner scratches at the walls until her fingers bleed. But there is no escaping the room. With no way of measuring time, her days, weeks, months go unrecorded. She vows not to go mad. She will not give her captors the satisfaction. She will die first. Copenhagen detective Carl has been taken off homicide to run a newly created department for unsolved crimes. His first case concerns Merete Lynggaard, who vanished five years ago. Everyone says she's dead. Everyone says it’s a waste of time. He thinks they’re right.
The voice in the dark is distorted, harsh and without mercy. It says the prisoner’s torture will only end when she answers one simple question. It is one she has asked herself a million times: WHY is this happening?

Loved this book.
The characters came to life in this book, clever storyline that kept me hooked all the way through. I hope there are more by this author.

Thrilling!
Although I guessed early on who the protagonist was it in no way detracted from my enjoyment of this book. Steven Pacey is one of favourite narrators and his characterisations were to my ears, perfect. There is a great light touch to some of the subtext especially in Carl's banter with Assad (who I'm sure we will hear more of)
Great book

impressed
Bought this book on someone elses recommendation and yes I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very much in the style and performance of Nesbo / the killing etc. If you like Nordic style murder mystery you will enjoy this.

Mercy
I'm not usually a fan of translated books but listening to this one has been a real pleasure. The narrator was a little irritating to start with but that was only because it was the first time I'd heard him. I've invested time in the author, characters, and the narrator and look forward to the rest of the series which I'll gladly purchase.

Thriller - with a real engaging storyline
Thoroughly enjoyed the story. As I listened to the story develop I realised it had also been adapted into a tv series. The book however captured a more menacing angle and in depth angle to the characters and story. Very readable book.

Gripping
If you could sum up Mercy in three words, what would they be?
Tense, far-fetched, enjoyable
Any additional comments?
Enjoyed it. I suppose the narrator has to distinguish characters, but it is odd hearing Danes with Welsh, Geordie, Yorksire accents etc
