Lindsay Powell's only secret is the recipe for her chocolate chip cookies, but she is surrounded by neighbors with deadly secrets. Suddenly Lindsay finds herself battling poisoned chocolate, a dead man who doesn't seem very dead, and a psycho stalker. Her best friend and co-worker, Paula, dyes her blond hair brown, hides from everybody, and insists on always having an emergency exit from any room. Secrets from Paula's past have come back to put lives in jeopardy. Determined to help Paula and to save her own life, Lindsay enlists the reluctant aid of another neighbor, Fred, an OCD computer nerd. In spite of his mundane existence, Fred possesses tidbits of knowledge about such things as hidden microphones, guns, and the inside of maximum security prisons. Lindsay needs more than a chocolate fix to survive all this chaos.

"Incredibly fun and unpredictable!"
Sarianna Gregg really brought Lindsey and the other characters of Death by Chocolate to life and this is a book I could listen to again!
Lindsey reminds me of the early Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich...before she became old and stale. She is fun and impulsive, if not a little too nosy for her own good. I loved the early SP series, and I think I have found a new guilty pleasure in Lindsey and Sally Berneathy!
She has so much passion and energy, she made a fun to read book even more fun to listen to.
It kept me on my toes the whole time. Just when I thought I knew what to expect, another twist popped up. I loved it!
What fun characters and a plot full of twists and turns! Just when I thought I knew what to expect Sally Berneathy threw me another curveball! As someone with an hour each way commute, I love to listen to audiobooks to pass the time, and this one made my drive pass by in a flash! I can't wait for the next book to come out as an audiobook! What a great find!
"Can't wait for the next book."
Great read strait from the first word. Spunky and believable characters that all have secrets. Bring on the next book!
"Like the book. Questionable narration."
I did like this book and I will probably purchase the next in series. The narrator was tolerable and you could tell she has a lot of experience. But I'm not sure she is a good fit for this character. Her voice is that of a more mature woman and at times it sounds like she may be wearing dentures. Also her voice of the friend character was pretty hard to listen to. Overall though I would recommend this book.
"WONDERFUL BOOK, THE READER WILL GROW ON YOU"
The book is one of my favorite - the whole series is awesome, very funny!
One of my favorite authors - I can hardly wait for the next in the series. I love mysteries that make me laugh and this series does that. I didn't care for the reader at first but I love the book so much I kept listening and by the end of the book she had grown on me. She is able to do different voices to distinguish between characters and that is important to me. If you don't like the reader just keep listening but if you can't get used to her just read the book - you won't be sorry.
"Fun story and good narrator!"
I really enjoyed this book. Unlike the other reviewers, I thought the narrator was great and brought life to the story. It was a little annoying the way she said "Rrrickkkkk", but I can deal with that. The main character was fun. There were some parts where you think "why doesn't she just do x", but I think that happens in every cozy book. The friend and neighbors were likable too. There was a cat in the story, but she isn't a crazy cat lady. I really hope they add the rest of the series to Audible! I've put in a request.
I think it's a wonderful companion to the book. I love the way the narrator brought the nuances of the story to life. Sally Berneathy is a wonderful story teller. The narrator had the right nuance and pauses to bring Lindsay to life. Well done. Hope these team up again for another story.
Lindsay is the bomb. So fearless!!
If you love chocolate."
You must listen this one. Can't put this down. The best novel I have ever heard.
"Good story, horrible narrator"
I'm pretty sure this could be a good story but the narrator was so horrible it was painful to get through.
Sarcasm is good with characters most of the time but when every sentence comes across that way it gets old very quickly and I've never hated hearing a name as much as I hate hearing her say "Rick".
"Death By Chocolate is a funny and wonderful story"
I really did enjoy the audio version
When Lindsey comes to the thought that chocolate could really kill you. I really enjoyed story and the relationship between Lindsey and Tate. It was very funny and great story. Keeps you wondering.
Quite an amusing tale
Rick bursting in toward the end.
Very warm and charmiing. Consumate actress played all the characters very well.
