Publisher's Summary

From the series Suspense Magazine voted the "Best of 2014!"

Chase Baker is famous for seeking out ancient antiquities and treasure from some of the most exotic, not to mention, dangerous locales on earth. But when he runs into fellow author, Les Edgerton, at SuspenseFest, a conference for thriller writers in NYC, the two get talking about the 1930s notorious gangster, Dutch Schultz, and the legend of his hidden treasure, which is said to be buried in a little town in upstate New York. Feeling fine from a few drinks at the hotel bar, Chase and Les decide to skip the festival in order to seek out some real suspense. That is, the location of the Dutch Schultz Treasure.

Little do they know, but another writer, a beautiful and talented author of true crime stories, will tail them all the way upstate. When she finally connects with them, she reveals her personal connection to the Schultz treasure which purportedly contains a fistful of priceless blue diamonds that were transported to America back in the mid-1800s by slaves. Slaves who, it turns out, were her great-great-grandparents. Armed with a map carved into the back of a man's skull, and having to fight off a team of very crooked and greedy Russians who are also seeking out the treasure, Chase and his team of literary irregulars land themselves into a heap of trouble and hair-raising adventures that promise to put them not only in prison, but in the hospital.

For fans of Dan Brown, J.R. Rain, Clive Cussler, and Russell Blake, best-selling Thriller Award winner Vincent Zandri delivers the latest in the romantic action and adventure pulp series Suspense Magazine voted as one of "The Best of 2014."

    ""More fun than Suspensefest.""
    Any additional comments?

Chase Baker and another writer escape from the Suspensefest convention they are attending and, over a few drinks decide to abandon boredom and instead search for the missing Schultz treasure that Edgerton had heard about. After a poor start, and an unfortunate encounter with a Russian father and son team, they are joined by another writer, this time of true crime, who claims she knows the real location, not that previously expected. How does she know? She is a defendant of Schultz's close servant at the time the treasure was hidden.

This is a fantastic Zandri romp with great throw away dialogue, adventure and fun. Much more fun than the Suspensefest and with the hope of enormous financial reward. The characters are great, the search exciting and, predictably, filled with difficulties and betrayals. One of the best in the Chase Baker series. As always, Andrew Wehrlen's narration is superb, well paced, each individual voice distinctive and appropriate, the whole a delight to the ear. He breathes even greater life and amusement into the text than that already present on the writing.A really enjoyable book.

My thanks to the rights holder for gifting me a copy of Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds, via Audiobook Boom. This is a great series, always exciting, constantly surprising and different. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a well performed easy listen of a light hearted, thrill filled book.

    Worth your time and credit!

Another fun, entertaining and enjoyable addition to the series. The whole series is addicting. Each story is just as good or better than the last. Even though it's a shorter story it doesn't feel like it. The story pulls you immediately and never slows down for a minute. As usual the story is fast-paced, well written and flows smoothly. It's also full of unexpected twists with plenty of action, suspense, intrigue and mystery. And it wouldn't be complete Chase Baker story without a tangled bit of romance. Chase Baker is just one of those characters that no matter what situation he's caught up in, you know it's going to be an interesting and exciting ride.

This is a series I recommend every chance I get.

Andrew B. Wehrlen once again does a fantastic job with the narration. Great voice that pulls you into the story from the minute it starts. He brings the characters and story to life. Great character voices. Perfect delivery and tone with the humor/sarcasm. The narration is clearly spoken with a nice even pace. You know if he's narrating a book your in for a great listen. Very enjoyable.

    "Better than ever !!"

Just finished Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds and have to say it was an excellent, very well written suspense/thriller book. The characters were witty and the story line was fast paced. I read the book in a few days, and I love having Chase Baker back in another adventure looking for acient treasure or, religious artifacts.. I would buy another book in a heartbeat. I could see this book made into a movie!

The narration is also top quality bringing the adventures as if you are right there with them..

Can't wait for the next one!!!

    "Great Listen!!!"

I have listened to a few of the books in this series and really enjoy them. This book starts with a bang and keeps going. I found myself not wanting this short story to end. I loved how the narrator was able to bring tension, suspense, and other emotions to life. Both author and narrator are very talented. I loved the twists and turns this book took. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher.

Caught me off guard. Good twist.

    "Another Action-Packed Thrill Ride"

This was the second Chase Baker audiobook I've listened to in this series. It was fast-paced and action packed. The locations were exotic and the characters were pretty awesome. The storyline was consistent and kept me interested throughout. I enjoy the treasure hunter theme. Another great book by Vincent Zandri.

Andrew B. Wehrien's performance was very good. He had great voice inflections and was perfect for this story. I thought it was a little fast, otherwise an excellent read.

    "A Fortunate Unfortunate..."
What did you love best about Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds?

I love the influx of new characters in each book. Unique locations, land marks, and geographical features are fresh.
The archeological finds and histories are unprecedented.
It doesn't seem to have a recurring or long lasting love interest. The admiration and appreciation for the opposite sex is fun, short-lived, and harmless.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds?

I haven't read/listened to all of the books. So the cameo appearance and learning of his ex wife and teen-ish daughter was sweet.

What does Andrew B Wehrlen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have to admit, again, that Andy is my all time favorite narrator. He excels with the Chase Baker series. I have listened to him narrate on other books and he takes voice acting to a higher level. Seriously, why is he only doing books?!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

An extreme reaction I would have had was nonbelief during the facetime section. I could be wrong, due to my lack of using video social media or communications, but I truly doubt Chase could have had that amount of panoramic or portrait views to assist with the tasks or seen the devices to know of pending dangers.

    Any additional comments?

I review all books I read and audios I listen to.

Would you consider the audio edition of Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print or ebook version. I will mention though what a vivid narrative that Andrew B. Wehrlen has done with this short but satisfying work! More about that further into my review.

What other book might you compare Chase Baker and the Dutch Diamonds to and why?

Chase Baker is an ongoing protagonist in a long series by author Vincent Zandri. Although this is the first I've been priviledged to listen to, I bet other works in the series are similar and also good reads / listens!

Have you listened to any of Andrew B Wehrlen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first audio book project narrated by Andrew that I have listened to. He has a listenable, easily understood voice. He seemed to pronounce words correctly. Without going absurdly overboard with his performance, he isn't just a reader, he performs the characters and the storyline! Good choice for this work!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It is brief, but I took a few minutes here and there.

    Any additional comments?

This is well thought out and written. The narration was excellent, professional.
    I appreciate those attributes.

It was entertaining and worth the time investment involved.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen and offer my opinions on this work!
