One of Dickens' most famous novels, this classic is set amid the turbulent times of the French Revolution. The main theme is the rescue of young Charles Darney, a French aristocrat sentenced to the guillotine by the "citizens" of the revolution. Out of the gloomy pall of the guillotine dungeons comes one of literature's greatest heroes, Sidney Carton, the rescuer of Darney. Who can ever forget Carton's most famous statement? "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."

This is a great story ruined by the reader's comically off-the-mark accents. The English working class accents were particularly absurd. It was impossible to listen to this in the car without my family falling about laughing.
It is a wonderful story of sacrifice and the power of love.
Perhaps Jack reads American literature better? I feel bad saying this, but I would not listen to another book read by him.
There are lessons for me. You make samples available.
I will check that any Dickens that I download is read by someone who can do the accents.
"Very well done"
The reader was good in all aspects. Voice variation to character was nice. The rate of reading was not hurried. Very easy to listen for hours at a time. I will look for this reader again.
"my first Charles Dickens book"
jack sondericker is a great narrator, excellent book! Charles Dickens really paints a picture with his words like no other.
