Childhood memories coming back. This story made me laugh, cry and smile all at once, this reading is fantastic. And Darren Shan never fails to write a gripping story.

Completely addictive!
Gripping, dark and highly enjoyable. Testing these out for my kids...and I'm hooked!
Gruesome in places but my lot do like a bit of gore so expecting them to be a hit.

Developing well
The second book in the series picks up months after the first ends. The character's struggle with his new life is evident and taking its toll. The relationship between Darren and Mr Crepsley is fractious and difficult but through the course of the book, I found myself beginning to care a lot more about the protagonist in this book, the author does a much better job of creating sympathy for them.
Narration is excellent again. Captures everything very well.
The story itself seems better paced and the writing come across as more mature and developed than the first book. An entertaining listen. If you were a bit on the fence after the first in the series, its worth persevering with.
