Summary

We all know the fairy-tale. An everyday girl meets her Prince Charming, they get married, have children and ride off into the sunset. Sadly, this isn't always the case and Christine McGuinness is keen to change the stereotype that marriage, fame and fortune brings an easy and blissful life...

This is Christine's first audiobook, where she tells the world her life story for the very first time. While telling her story, Christine was diagnosed with autism, as revealed in this book for the very first time. Christine outlines the difficulties and joys of being a mother to three autistic children—including the similarities she now sees in herself.

Her autobiography also delves into her anorexia battle, fertility troubles, her marriage, modeling career and tough childhood, subjects, which are sensitive and many of which she hasn't spoken about before.

She is a mom of three to eight-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and four-year-old Felicity, all of whom have been diagnosed with autism.

In this frank and candid listen, Christine reveals the struggles she's overcome in her life and still battles with today, but at the heart of it, she's on a mission to learn more about autism and to educate others and change the stigma around the condition. Christine wants to campaign to improve rights for those with invisible disabilities. She wants her children to be able to get a job, have relationships and live independent lives. In this audiobook, Christine gives readers a detailed insight into what being a full-time mom with three autistic children is like.

Living her best life..

An interesting listen from a decent woman and mum in the public eye who’s had more than her fair share of adversity and is still doing her best. Positive and warm, just lovely ❤️
And the narrator is fantastic x

Thank you Christine

I listened to this book and there were quite a few parts where I connected with what Christine had written at such a core level that I cried.
I believe (and have done so for a while now) that I am one of those undiagnosed autistics. I’ve struggled throughout my life to maintain balance between friendships and just day to day life.
I have a son who is autistic and every day he brings me so much joy and hope for my own future as well as his.
To see almost a parallel with my childhood and Christine’s was warming.
She’s inspired me to apply for the London Marathon for next year where hopefully I will be running for the Autistic Society. So wish me luck.

How raw Christine’s story is

Love that it helps me relate after recent diagnosis. Making me also realise my other child may also be on the spectrum

Austim

Like the awareness of austim and showing just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t make everything perfect in their lives.

Only talks about autism

This shouldn't of been a book. There isn't much in it. Could of told this story in a long magazine article or on a TV interview. I have children who are autistic and lots of similarities in that respect. For the people who have no clue about the how autism affects daily life, yes it does show this well (if a bit long winded) Otherwise I would not recommend this book to anyone. Also disappointed she didn't narrate this book herself.
