Publisher's Summary

Let's celebrate World Book Day with The Boy Who Could Do What He Liked, written and recorded by the author David Baddiel, especially for World Book Day on March 3rd 2016.

This is the first audiobook to be produced for World Book Day - it's a hugely entertaining and touching story of a boy called Alfie who likes to keep to strict routines and schedules. It's all rules, rules and more rules in Alfie's life.

When a new baby sitter arrives called Mrs Stokes to look after Alfie he begins to realise that rules aren't everything and perhaps the mysterious Mrs Stokes is no ordinary baby sitter!

Includes wonderful music and sound effects - a jam packed listen with plenty of laughs along the way.

    Story
"The story which didn't really excite"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Your time could be spent listening to something better. We listened to this book as a family, during a long car journey. My 4 year old was rapidly bored and my 8 year old hung in there for longer whilst as adults we found it was marginally more entertaining than trying to play the number plate word game...

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It's not often a zimmer frame takes centre stage in a story, especially a magical one.<br/>The start of the book, with repeated descriptions of daily routines, is mind numbing.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The cleaning up after dinner scene was easily pictured and would have been a lot of fun.

Was The Boy Who Could Do What He Liked worth the listening time?

In truth I wished I had chosen a different book for the journey.

    Any additional comments?

Whilst I have enjoyed Watching David Baddiel's comedy on television, I did not find this book well written or particularly enjoyable. His reading voice was clear and pleasant.

It was a amazing story but I only wished it could be longer and the parents had been at another country so he had a a few more days of magic

Ex book worm with lack of time, talking books are the way forward for me. Have a penchant for horror, crime, thrillers & young adult books.

    Story
"My son loved this and now loves talking books"

My son has always found reading difficult as he has dyspraxia & suspected dyslexia. So we thought we'd try an audible book. He's utterly converted which could prove costly for me.

He was giggling like a loon and now wants more David Baddiel books, he's now up there with his fave authors apparently. Even his little sister wants in on the audible books now and was also giggling.

Great for quiet time or travelling to stop them getting bored. As an adult its not to bad to listen to.

I must admit I do like it when an author is engaging enough to listen to that they can read their own books :0)
