About this listen

Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring) brings a palpable sense of joy and exuberance to her performance of Lewis Carroll's enduring classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. From the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter to the Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts, she imbues each madcap character with a distinct voice and personality that will leave a lasting impression long after the adventure is over.

One hundred and fifty years after its original publication, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland remains one of the most widely read, deconstructed, referenced, and reinterpreted works of Western fiction. It tells the story of the young and imaginative Alice, who grows weary of her storybook, one "without pictures or conversations", and follows a hasty hare underground - to come face to face with a host of strange and fantastic characters.

A very good reading. Though there is no earthly way of knowing quite how the author managed to conjour into being such a story of ravens, writing desks and wonderland.

A very good reading.

There’s a reason this book is a classic. If you like bonkers then you’ll love this!

The story is told by Scarlett Johansson who is a fabulous actress and her rendition of this book is great. I loved her voices for each of the characters- always fun.

The book comes alive through her telling of it, and you can tell she enjoyed reading it.

Will look for more work read by her.

The story is so steeped in popular culture, if you’ve not read it you’ll be familiar with passages of it. My headline is the song title from the band The Mock Turtles....

This story needs no review surely! However, Scarlett Johansson is THE best narrator for such a tale. Bringing to life every creature, she shows a skill way above Agent Romanov! A quirky tale made giggle-worthy with her brilliant voices, I just wish she'd also recorded Through the Looking Glass!

Scarlett is a superstar narrator
