Summary

A friends-to-lovers dark romantic comedy full of murder, chaos, and spice, unlike anything you’ve heard before.

Every serial killer needs a friend. Every game must have a winner.

When a chance encounter sparks an unlikely bond between rival murderers Sloane and Rowan, the two find something elusive—the friendship of a like-minded, pitch-black soul. From small-town West Virginia to upscale California, from downtown Boston to rural Texas, the two hunters collide in an annual game of blood and suffering, one that pits them against the most dangerous monsters in the country.

But as their friendship develops into something more, the restless ghosts left in their wake are only a few steps behind, ready to claim more than just their newfound love.

Can Rowan and Sloane dig themselves out of a game of graves?

Or have they finally met their match?

Butcher & Blackbird is the first book in the Ruinous Love dark romance trilogy of interconnected stand-alone dark romantic comedies. This dual POV novel ends on an HEA.

Butcher & Blackbird is a dark romance intended for an adult audience—please see Brynne’s website for a comprehensive list of content warnings.

Yes, yes, YES!

"There's art in our scars. There's wonder in the way we heal."

Fuck yes, more love stories like this please. This book really had no business being so beautifully emotional and so hilariously unhinged. Absolute chaotic perfection. Oh and the smut 🙌🏻

Side note: I don’t make the rules but it’s a cardinal sin to consume this book in any other format than the audiobook. The dual POV narration, the Irish accent of Rowan our MMC, the occasional overlapping dialogue and sound effects. Chefs fucking kiss.

Fun, sexy and deadly!

This had me smiling and blushing like a Cheshire cat! A good story with an unexpected plot twist that I didn't see coming. The spice was delish!

Incredibly entertaining

Loved this from start to finish and the narration was phenomenal! Wish all audiobooks were duet narration. Also Joe Arden with an Irish accent was 🥵🥵🥵

Great voice actors

I LOVED the voice actors on this. They did the best job.
The descriptions around the deaths were great and sometimes funny.
The spice in this book was SPICY. I liked it over all but didn’t LOVE it

Amazing!

I loved reading the book its self, but the audio was even better. The way both of the narrator’s were combined made it so much more enjoyable to listen to and the Irish accent was perfect.

Laughs, Lust and Orzo Pasta

A brilliant book highlighted perfectly by the stunning vocal talents of Joe Arden and Lucy Rivers. A book that is hard to pause and keeps you truly hooked every step of the way.

OH MY IRISH GOD

This book is my favourite so far of 2024
Reason to read :
Hilarious 😂
Spicy
Psycho Characters that match each other perfectly
Family and Found Family / Friendship
Can't Wait for book 2
I also normally have the audio speed at 2.00 and it just worked with their crazy banter.
The extra sounds like the separate laughing, groaning just worked in it's weird and crazy way.
Definitely worth it

Why did I hesitate for so long about this book?!!

Having seen this come up on Instagram, I bought this book a couple of months ago but always chose others to listen to before it - I regret that now! This is a deliciously evil rom-com that had me laughing out loud, screwing up my nose in yukiness and swooning; I’ve never read something like it and that’s why I enjoyed it so much. It’s a really unique story and the narration was simply brilliant. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out and I will read it immediately!!!! Simply put - I loved it!
