I gambled before in forex and really didn't have a clue. I decided to have another look though this time mainly at shares.
This book is very informative. It cuts out the crap! You need to research before buying a share. Simples. A bit like buying a car/house; it needs a bit of forethought.
Robbie's laid back style is evident in this book and he explains some financial gobbledygook in an easy to follow way.
I'm now paper trading (no money needed!) and then I might give one of Robbie's seminars a go before investing properly!
I first bought the first edition audio book which I listened to many times and then bought the hard copy third edition and then bought the audio book fourth edition after read many other books on investing. I keep coming back to this book to check I am not getting into bad habits.
This book covers the basics in an easy to understand language, moves onto to more intermediate concepts and then provides plenty of techniques, tips useful tools and websites as well as mistakes to avoid to get the most from your investments.
Most books on beginner investing are American, so this UK book is invaluable for UK investors or those looking to invest in UK shares.
The fourth edition audiobook has some editing gaffs in the new sections that have been added such as coughs, paper shuffles and retakes, but does not detract from the content.
I liked listening to this book so much I just bought the paper back version! I don't want to recommend it because I'm worried everyone will get in on the secret !!! But in all fairness it's really good and I think I will also purchase Robbie's book on Spread Betting!!
Thanks Robbie !
I always thought trading was some dark art, but it's broken down so clearly in this book.
The last two hours are a bit weak. 90min of analysis on reader stories is a 3/5. The last half an hour seems like he's rambling. Also they seemed to have stopped quality checking the audio just before the last two hours. Long pauses, paper rifling, repeating sentences.
All in all great book! Have bought a copy for my partner as well as a paperback.
Say something about yourself!
I really liked this book. It opened my eyes to the stock market. I tried many books related to stock market but they all are technical and boring. This is different, gives you a good explanation of the market without being too technical. Would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to deal shares.
must read for any new trader, encompasses the important principal of simplicity. as Robbie recommends alot of additional reading/ learning is necessary along with this book as it is not a complete how to but is an excellent contribution towards successful trading.
clean and simple trading lingo that is easy to utilise in real time. highly recommended for beginners and those at it a long time. heavily into FTSE shares but principles can be seen on NYSE
this was a great book. Very informative. I also like the author sense of humor. Only issue, everything was pounds versus dollars but information was still good
