You know what value investing is: it's how Warren Buffett made his billions. Perhaps you're even familiar with value investing terminology, such as margin of safety and intrinsic value. And maybe you've already found success with value investing and know from experience that it's the most reliable way to achieve market-beating returns and accumulate significant wealth. Congratulations!
Whether you're a complete beginner in need of an A-to-Z value investing primer, an experienced investor looking to expand and fine-tune your repertoire of value investing skills, or an individual or institutional investor looking to identify the best money managers, this audiobook is for you. Authors John Heins and Whitney Tilson have brought together the collective wisdom of today's most successful value investors and distilled it into a series of actionable lessons you can put into practice right away.
Based on extensive interviews with market-beating money managers, superstar hedge fund managers and mutual fund heroes, and featuring many real-world examples, The Art of Value Investing expertly describes:
But The Art of Value Investing does much more than impart information. It was designed to help you develop an approach to value investing that's just right for you. Giving you unparalleled access to the thinking of the brightest and best of the value investing world, The Art of Value Investing can save you years of frustrating (and expensive) trial-and-error. "John Heins and Whitney Tilson, co-founders of the Value Investor Insight newsletter, have done a thorough job of explaining how to look for stocks that are trading at significant discounts to what they are worth - the concept known as the value style of investing.... the authors present a clear framework for ferreting out undervalued companies." (The New York Times)
This book comprises excerpts from interviews with value fund managers each one typically one paragraph in length.
The quotations are grouped together in themes, but still do not flow easily in the way a written book would.
I've listened to this book twice now, about 12 months apart and got far more from it on the second listening, having listened to several other investing books in between.
The book does provide a real insight into what value investors look for when evaluating a potential stock, when they would buy and when they would sell. They don't all agree and their are a wide range of views, all valuable.
"Collection of quotations with no narrative"
This could be a nice hard cover book to own. You could flip through the pages for quotes from investors you are familiar with, and mull over the different perspectives.
But a collection of quotations with no narrative to pull them together makes for a strange audio book. I would advise that this book be enjoyed in a different format.
"great for quotes not great for audiobook"
like the authors a lot but book is too much quotes not enough insight or analysis. fine but not great
"Reader, reads too fast."
Yes. Great tid-bits and take aways, insights thoughts on how advance investors think.
I thought it was read too fast for me. And the android Audible app has no .75x speed. A little strange considering there is a .5x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x, and yes a 3x speed.(Chipmunk speed lol!).
"Would have been better if"
Would have been better, more enjoyable, if a train of thought was followed through. As it is the book is boring and difficult to listen to, in spite of excellent narration.
I would not recommend this as a book to listen to.
