Summary
Is this blue book more valuable than a business degree?
Most people enter their professional careers not understanding how to grow a business. At times, this makes them feel lost or, worse, like a fraud pretending to know what they’re doing.
It’s hard to be successful without a clear understanding of how business works. These 60 daily entries are crucial for any professional or business owner who wants to take their career to the next level.
New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Donald Miller knows that business is more than just a good idea made profitable - it’s a system of unspoken rules, rarely taught by MBA schools. If you are attempting to profitably grow your business or career, you need elite business knowledge - knowledge that creates tangible value.
Even if you had the time, access, or money to attend a top 20 business school, you would still be missing the practical knowledge that propels the best and brightest forward. However, there is another way to achieve this insider skill development, which can both drastically improve your career earnings and the satisfaction of achieving your goals.
Donald Miller learned how to rise to the top using the principles he shares in this book. He wrote Business Made Simple to teach others what it takes to grow your career and create a company that is healthy and profitable.
These short, daily entries will add enormous value to your business and the organization you work for. In this 60-day guide, listeners will be introduced to the nine areas where truly successful leaders and their businesses excel:
- Character: What kind of person succeeds in business?
- Leadership: How do you unite a team around a mission?
- Personal productivity: How can you get more done in less time?
- Messaging: Why aren’t customers paying more attention?
- Marketing: How do I build a sales funnel?
- Business strategy: How does a business really work?
- Execution: How can we get things done?
- Sales: How do I close more sales?
- Management: What does a good manager do?
Business Made Simple is the must-have guide for anyone who feels lost or overwhelmed by the modern business climate, even if they attended business school. Learn what the most successful business leaders have known for years through the simple but effective secrets shared here.
Take things further: If you want to be worth more as a business professional, listen to each daily entry.

Brilliant and simple
Ideal for those (like me) who like short but effective steps that can be repeated countless times. I will repeat chapters time and time again until they become habit for my business and for me personally, it's the very best way to learn. Take notes!

Don Miller don’t make junk
A long term and huge fan of Don’s, this book was definitely another gem in the collection. Only negative is the lack of practical use examples.

Another reiteration of familiar material!
Don't get me wrong, I really like Donald's information. His website provides considerably more value, regardless of whether you wait daily or pay upfront (to "unlock" access).
Trouble is, this audiobook is another reiteration of past material, much of the same narrative, really stretched out going over the same content, then repeated again in the bonuses unfortunately.
It does a good job of constantly and consistently pointing you to Donald's website/course, which is what I've surmised over the years it's pretty much all these titles do (regardless of format)...!
A tangible book for taking notes, highlighting, checklist, etc. shows this Audible title works better in a physical format (maybe also Kindle). There is a PDF included, but it's sparse.
It's a bit of a no-brainer: upskill [with this book/course!] and increase your value. The way it's dressed up though is very long winded and not appropriate for necessarily other careers outside of general business roles, development or marketing.
Many similar books or authors pretty much say the same thing, singing the same tune, which for me is a signal that another book is not the answer, action is always key.

Not about doing business, Not good as audio book.
I didn't finish this book as the first 5 chapters had so little insight I didn't want to waste more time.
The book refers to videos to watch offline. This is not useful if you're busy and listen to audio books driving.
Much of the content in the chapters I heard was how to be a good employee.
The structure and key takeaways were difficult to follow by audio Vs other business audio books I have listened to. This was partly because the content was verbose and points were not distilled enough into a theory, but more based on anecdotes.
some references were made to more established authors and research. To me this seemed cursory and superficial to give the impression of authority.
Not suitable as an audio book and not good content.
