Summary
Kommissarin Katharina von Hagemann hat einige Jahre in München gearbeitet und kehrt nach einem schweren Schicksalsschlag nach Norddeutschland zurück. Im beschaulichen Lüneburg tritt sie voller Hoffnung ihre neue Stelle an, doch bereits der Start mit ihrem neuen Chef Benjamin Rehder verläuft alles andere als glatt und Katharina stellt ihren Neuanfang schnell in Frage. Auch Rehder bezweifelt, dass er mit der jungen Kollegin klarkommt, hat aber ein noch viel größeres Problem damit, dass sein kriminell veranlagter und lange verschollener Bruder wieder in der Heidestadt aufgetaucht ist.
Die privaten Gedanken der Ermittler werden verdrängt, als kurz hintereinander drei Morde geschehen. Schnell scheint klar, dass es sich um Serientaten handelt, aber es sind weder ein Motiv noch eine einheitliche Vorgehensweise des grausamen Killers erkennbar. Als ein kleines Mädchen verschwindet, wird es zu einem Kampf gegen die Zeit, denn bisher hat der Täter keines seiner Opfer am Leben gelassen.
