Summary
At only 32, Bishop Stockley has lived a hard-knock life. After doing five years in a federal prison, Bishop is back at his dad's trailer and working for his landscaping company, thrust into a legit world where he's no longer the alpha - a world where a criminal record is the least of his disadvantages, because Bishop can't read or write.
Bishop already had the deck stacked against him, but he wasn't afraid of hard work to change his situation, and he did want to change. Especially after he encountered Edison Scala, a kind-spirited office manager who didn't hesitate to come to his defense...a man that saw past Bishop's grass-stained coveralls. A man who wasn't intimidated by his stern features and his silence.
Bishop knew Edison was off-limits. He'd made personal vows to himself when he was released from prison, ones that he never intended to break. But, when Edison asked him about providing landscaping services at his home, there was no way he could refuse. He hadn't expected Edison to feed him, praise him, encourage him, and look at him the way he did - as if Bishop was somebody.

Enjoyable
I loved the main characters and the storyline, the way their relationship developed was interesting. I also liked the narrator, he had a good voice.

🤗 Unexpected Surprise!
A E Via typically writes fast paced, action stories and likes her males alpha, hard bodied, adrenaline types in enforcement or protector roles and erotically charged. In very sharp contrast, Bishop and Edison are self-aware protagonists in a sweet, slow burn, romantic story!! Bishop, an ex-convict, has to raise his character game to Edison’s level. Edison, naive and self-conscious, has to learn that Bishop accepts him, chubby body and all. Ms. Via takes her time with the character work and in building their emotional and physical connection 🎯. This story is not without criticism but it made me so happy! Though I eye roll the office bully and his cringey shenanigans, I enjoyed how his antagonism played out for our duo. I loved the depiction of illiteracy, an ex-convict’s rehabilitation and a body-realistic love interest. I melted at Bishop's courtship of Edison and l really did care about their blue + white collar romance.
🎧 Thor Thom's narration suits this story!! He gave Bishop and his father exactly the same bass, inflections, accents but, demonstrating exceptionally nuanced skill, you hear that Mike has a chestier rumble! The narrator has a distinct audible breath that took some getting used to. Yet, I completely forgot about it during the sensual scenes because TT most assuredly brought the 🔥 HEAT🔥. The narrator has a full-throated bass so colour me surprised at how convincingly he portrayed female characters or the softer, genteel, higher pitched vocals for the white-collar characters and then effortlessly moved back and forth with the baritones of the blue-collar cast? A stellar performance!

I already loved this story...Bishop & Edison are wonderful characters & Thor Tom brought them to life wonderfully.

Love it
Really enjoyed this book slow burn romance of Bishop and Edison. I loved how the story brought Bishop and Edison to life an ex con and a naive young executive both with different personality and up bringings. Thom Torr was just perfect as narror and A. E. Via is an awesome author.

Loved it...
You are going to laugh... Cry bit for Bishop but don't you dare pity him... He are strong man... And that voice Damn Tor Thom 😍😍😍
I wish there was other book between the friend and the guy who is coming out of prison that will be hot

Perfect love story
Such a wonderfully satisfying story and the narration was spot on. I am definitely going to be listening to this book again and looking out for Tor Thom’s narration.

Good enough lacks decent editing
I like AE Via’s work for the most part. I enjoyed this book well enough but would have been disappointed to spend my money on it - there are several places where character names are misplaced or confused and it shows very poor editing.

Loved it!
Story: An ex-con and a young executive with totally different personalities, and off the charts chemistry. AE Via is a master of creating unique characters and this book was no exception in this regard. I really liked all the peope, both the MCs and secondary ones! The story itself included some interesting twists and turns that kept me interested throughout.
Narration: Great voice! I liked the performance a lot. It was easy to follow and the differentiation of voices was really well done!

Loved this book! Narration is perfect.
The story is heart tugging and beautiful I have it in all three formats.
Narration is perfect smooth and husky with just enough emotion to really feel the character's personality.
Only one criticism is the same in the paperback and kindle version which is a few character name mistakes with Edison and Bishop but it's well worth it for a story this good!
