About this listen

The Sunday Times number-one best seller. How people succeed and how you can, too.

Alastair Campbell knows all about winning. As Tony Blair’s chief spokesman and strategist, he helped guide the Labour Party to victory in three successive general elections, and he’s fascinated by what it takes to win.

How do sports stars excel, entrepreneurs thrive, or individuals achieve their ambitions? Is their ability to win innate? Or is the winning mind-set something we can all develop?

Drawing on the wisdom of an astonishing array of talented people, from elite athletes to top managers, from rulers of countries to rulers of global business empires, Alastair Campbell uses his forensic skills as well as his own experience of politics and sport to get to the heart of success.

He examines how winners tick. He considers how they build great teams. He analyses how they deal with unexpected setbacks and new challenges. He judges what the very different worlds of politics, business and sport can learn from one another. And he sets out a blueprint for winning that we can all follow.

Where does Winners rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 5 of inspirational type books

Who was your favorite character and why?

This isn't fiction. However, I found it gave good insight into the true character of the author - who was very honest and has lived a very colourful life to date.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I like how the book conveys Alistair's experiences and interviews with many high profile people, like he is telling you personally over a drink! It's hard to stop listening to his impressions of the people he has met and their own quotes/outlook on life! Fascinating.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Interviews of a life time!

Any additional comments?

I think Alistair should be commended for what must have been a tremendous amount of effort that it took to make this book. He's met some amazing people, got some fascinating insights into their mind-set and he himself has quite a story to tell! Having listened to the book, I've feel like I'm in on the gossip and have been told a few 'behind the scenes' secrets! Brilliant!

Inspirational Book - great listen!

This is the first Audible book I have felt compelled to immediately listen to again. It is packed to the brim with valuable insights, tips and strategies for success from the world’s most successful people. An extremely well written and carefully thought-out book. You cannot fail to learn and be inspired by it. The narrator was a joy to listen to.

An excellent book; a brilliant collection of success stories. Alastair does a wonderful job at breaking it down to a select few success factors and introducing us to the winners in a personable manner to support his points. He leaves no stone unturned, no angle missed. A truly inspiring and motivational book.

However, Alastair erred on the side of caution by keeping his messages and conclusions general. I sincerely hope for an 'epilogue after the conclusion' in the paper cover - something along the line of the more simplistic 'winning apps and formulas' Niall Ferguson uses in his works, a little more than a 20-point check list about how to be hard working and use common sense. Perhaps group them up, or tell a fantasy story to make it more 'memorable'

On balance, this book is definitely a great one for commuters to get a daily boost

Thorough list of success factors, without a memorable conclusion
