Written in his early 60s, Tesla looks back on the events that shaped his life as the inventor of our modern world. Like many exceptional artists, scientists, and engineers, Tesla's senses and intellect worked on a higher level, which often afflicted him physically. Yet he overcame, and used his special abilities and strong educational background to make electricity the servant of man. He personally invented radio, AC electricity, remote-control, and initiated a plan for the first wireless network. He believed in using renewable energy, and developed the first hydroelectric power plants. And always, his altruistic goal was to make a better world for mankind.

Interesting book, and a great insight into the Genius. However the narrator is rather irritating at times when he tries to act out some of the lines with an almost soap opera style of expression.
Once you get over how self impressed he was writing this it becomes fairly entertaining to hear Tesla describe his own virtues. An interesting book. I was a little disappointed that this didn't cover all of his life, but being written at a time when many of his plans and ideas were still being implemented it's interesting to know now what he actually did and did not accomplish.
"Not a professional performance"
Interesting book but was difficult to listen to at times. The reader was often too dramatic and read lines in a manner which leaves the listener annoyed. The worst part of this audio book was the incessant lip-smacking-wet-saliva noises which, with eyes closed, tricked me into believing that I was trapped in a damp basement wearing squishy socks and soggy boots.
"I Liked this, it showed how unique Tesla was..."
this is a great listen it is easy to believe you are listening to his voice.
some of it was over my head...
but I loved how he talked about the Unique way is mind worked ..
and his personal history.
I think he wanted to give us the web way back then...
I wish he had talked more about the challenges of Capitalism's deathgrip over his Ideas.
very enjoyable... I will listen to it again.
"not alot of meat"
yes, as I am interested in the subject the narration was good
I was looking for more nuts and bolts. Having heard the Wizard the life and times of Nicola Tesla, which was packed with information, I found this book to be lacking
Some of his childhood stories
It was nice to hear his stories in his own words
"found this interesting but lacking greatly"
this is an interesting autobiography on nikola tesla however its lacking greatly on the specifics of his life. its like listening to a quick summary of his entire life rather than a true autobiography.
"Modesty:not one of Mr Tesla's greatest attributes "
8/10, fascinating chap beyond the ego. Tesla showing off the workings of his remarkable brain much like a proud gardener would a prize turnip.
"tesla was a clairvoyant,"
listen as his 1900s autobiography describes the world of 2010. he knew the world to come, he had seen it in his own mind.
"Insightful and entertaining"
Listening to Nikola Tesla's true accounts of his life, ideas and inventions by this narrator was wonderful. Much moreso than the printed word. It literally felt as though Tesla himself had read it aloud in 1919, and the audio merely filtered and enhanced in high definition, rather than read by someone else!
As for the text itself, I have read there are multiple versions of this particular manuscript, and there is really no way to tell which is the "least innacurate" without locating and somehow verifying the one penned by Tesla's own hand. That said, this version is highly enjoyable, read with fervor and inflection, down to the sighs of frustration surely experienced by the phophetic mind of a man at least a century ahead of his time.
"pretty good. eye opening at parts"
nice to hear it from Tesla , and it's also interesting to see how much of what he predicted is here now.
