Summary
Serena: Aliens have landed on Earth and offered a cure for cancer in exchange for human brides to save their race. The program has led to protests and, increasingly, violence. But as a hematologist specializing in leukemia, I still jump at the chance to work with the Cerastean doctors to help cure patients. I’m assigned to work with Physician L’Vect who is well - he’s different. He’s gruff, clueless, occasionally rude, and scaring the crap out of our human patients. But there is something about him that I can’t seem to resist. When L’Vect asks me to teach him to better understand humans, I jump at the chance to help. Plus, it allows me to get closer to this intriguing alien.
L’Vect: I have always been socially inept. I do not pick up on social cues that come effortlessly to others. Now as I try to interact with my new human patients and fellow coworkers, I find that I am even worse with the humans than I am with my own people. I did not believe it was possible. I do not pick up on human’s most basic social cues. I want to help my patients, but all I can scent is their fear when I speak with them. Luckily, the one human who seems to understand me, Dr. Serena Salcedo, has offered to instruct me in "bedside manners".
As Serena and L’Vect begin to learn and understand each other’s differences and similarities, feelings begin to develop between them. However, forces outside of their control are conspiring to tear them apart.

Oh so loved
Loved the narration of Verla Bond
A great fast listen to
This was a fun alien romance with a hunky but socially inept alien and the kind female doctor he is partnered with and their steps to falling in love.
I have really enjoyed this second book. The characters are well written and the storyline was good it made me laugh .

Fun!!!
Sci fi romance is not something I normally listen to, but after a recommendation, I decided to give this one a try, and I loved it! Not your typical heavy, alpha alien, this story is a slow burn romance with an interesting story! It's fast paced, easy to listen to and exciting. L'vect is here on earth, and has brought a cure for cancer. But in order for the human race to get the cure, they have to allow brides for aliens to save their kind. Serena is a doctor and is thrilled by the chance to help save lives. Working with L'vect gives her an opportunity like no other. But what she didn't count on is her attraction to him. And our romance begins. I have to tell you what I really enjoyed about this book is the way Serena and L'vect interact. We don't realize how much we innately know or have been taught and use in our everyday life. To hear it from a different perspective is amusing and refreshing! This was a wonderful listen, and look forward to hearing more.
Verla Bond is narrator of story and I love her. She has such a pleasantness to her voice that it's easy to listen to. She easily goes from character to character and man to woman, each voice distinguishable. I will be watching for more from her.

Loved it!
Really liked it! Well written characters and good story line. I will definitely continue reading the series.
My favourite thing about Dane Griggs' writing is how truly well written the women and men (aliens 😉) are. Matriarchal society is so easy to write with submissive men or on the other hand false-feminism where the males "protect" the ladies so much it turns into misogyny. Ms Griggs has avoided these sterotypes and I get to enjoy a great story without any r/holup moments! 👍
