an emotional ride
The author lays it all out there, sharing the nitty-gritty of supporting their spouse through the big C. It’s not just all tears and tissues. There’s a lot of love, strength, and even some laughs. What makes this audiobook stand out is the straight-up honesty about what they’d do differently if they had the chance. You can get insider tips on navigating the toughest times. If you or someone you know has ever dealt with cancer, this is like having a friend who totally gets it, sharing their story. It’s heavy but also inspiring. Keep the tissues handy, and get ready to feel all the feels.

If you need help coping, listen to this book
This book was written by and for those who know the pain and struggle firsthand and it makes it invaluable.
Apart from the struggle with emotional pain, there is more to think for a family facing the struggle, like money, medical aspects, caring for children and pets, and much more. The author Troy Dunham understands that and generously shares advice with readers, through the spectrum of his pain and victories.
The book is a testament to love, care, and hope.
May no one face such struggles, but if you or your loved one face them, consider listening to this book as a source of information, support, and a beacon of hope.

Heartfelt and profound
"Battling Cancer from the Sidelines" is a profound and heartfelt account that delves into the oft-overlooked experiences of a spouse watching their loved one fight cancer. This book is not just a recounting of medical treatments but a deeply personal exploration of the emotional and logistical challenges that come with navigating a partner’s illness. What I especially appreciate is how the book addresses the feelings of helplessness and the strain on the spousal relationship, offering strategies for maintaining emotional closeness and mutual support. I recommend this book to anyone dealing with ANY kind of illness as a person who lost her husband from a different ailment, it applies and can help!

Facts About Cancer and Its Effect on loved Ones
As a person who has witnessed this tragic disease that took away one of my oldest and best friends while I watched helplessly on the sidelines as his wife did all that she could to help him through his journey to his inevitable end, was absolutely heartbreaking. I wish I had access to this book to offer her as a guide. It starts by understanding how shocking and upsetting a cancer diagnosis can be, affecting everything from your emotions to your finances. It contains all of the tools and knowledge you need to face cancer bravely. The book explains the science of cancer clearly and debunks common myths, which makes the scary stuff less frightening. The author's candid reflections on their experiences, lessons learned, and the emotional toll of caregiving are presented in an understandable and empathetic manner. It also covers the costs involved and how the healthcare system works which is very important to understand.

brutally honest and well written
This was a very real narration of their journey through cancer. It is nicely written and easy to read. The chapters I appreciated most were on insurance, nutrition, and strengthening others. Many people discount the impact of food. But we intake food 3 major times (meals) per day and often many minor times (snacks) throughout the day. Food interacts with us chemically, it is broken down through the digestive system and moves throughout the body doing its thing. We tend to think of just pharmaceutical products as chemical interactions, but plain old everyday food interacts with our bodies the very same way. Insurance is also a nightmare and it helps to hear how others of navigated the landscape. a solid read/listen
