Summary

Discover the ultimate handbook for success on the autistic spectrum–written from lived experience.

I feel like everyone else got a handbook with all the answers, and I never got my copy. This is a common thought among autistic adults, because society is built with neurotypical people in mind–but that handbook has finally arrived. Even better, it was written by an autism activist who is on the spectrum himself.

Autistic influencer Daniel Jones is an expert on living well on the spectrum. No matter what you're going through as someone with autism, Dan gets it–he's been there. And now he's ready to impart everything he's learned (and then some!) in this part guide, part memoir about life as an autistic person. Autism for Adults is packed with actionable advice that you can immediately start putting into practice. You'll learn how:

· your mind works differently from your neurotypical peers

· to navigate common challenges, such as dating on the spectrum, holding down a job or performing well in school

· to manage symptoms without becoming burned out

· to improve your life while also empowering yourself

And much more!

Dan's honesty, self-awareness and sheer knowledge of autism make for a down-to-earth and relatable listen that anyone will enjoy. No matter where you are on the spectrum, you'll love this hilarious and comprehensive guide to living an excellent life as an autistic adult.

Spot On

Well where to start, at the beginning I guess is as good as anywhere, i will say I’m in my mid 50’s, I have Autism and was diagnosed late in my life, and I have had considerable difficulties dealing with it, as it was picked up late, I have a lot of unhealthy coping strategies, and while I have been seeking psychological held of late, a family member told me about this author’s Facebook page, and I watched many of his videos, so thought I’d give the book a try, as with many on the spectrum, with Dyslexia, ADHD etc.. reading is not really my thing, I find it hard going, and concentrating on the meaning, while trying to keep the words from jumping about, missing lines or just reading something wrong, I get a headache and stop reading, this audiobook helps immensely with the process, and so far (the first two chapters) it has been a pleasurable experience, I am presently sat in a coffee shop, surrounded my noise and distractions, where reading a book would be absolutely impossible for me, with my noise cancelling earbuds in, I found I can read (listen) without much problem, and i can say, Daniel has spoken clearly and humanly, like in conversation, not like a textbook, and has been uncannily accurate describing my early life, I would highly recommend this book to anybody who deals with an autistic person, it will give them a good insight to what is going on in our Atypical brains, and make it easier to deal with each other. An easy 5 stars

Insightful and Reassuring

I often find myself with a serious imposter syndrome when it comes to my autism, but hearing Daniel’s life experience and relating to it all so much helps remind me that my condition is valid and is not something that should be masked and bottled up just because of life and social pressures.
