Excellent adaptation
Much better than any of the recent film adaptations this production perfectly encapsulates how love and lust can begin a slow descent into murder and madness.

So enjoyable 😁
Really enjoyed this. I am a big Émile Zola fan, and this doesn’t disappoint. Great cast, well put together performance. Also have the Blood, Sex and Money dramatisation which is outstanding.

Zola At His Best
A good Victorian plot set in a claustrophobic atmosphere of a little shop somewhere in a small town in France.
Love betrayal murder along with a suffocating mother who dominates her mummies boy is all wrapped up in lust and ... well I do not want to spoil it for you ... a typical french fancy that I like to listen to every few years and I like it as much as the first time.

A good play for a Sunday afternoon
Nicely acted and an enjoyable play but latter half of the play got a bit predictable and silly. In some ways this is down to the story but minus the literary delivery of Zola it came across as a little rushed and melodramatic
A good listen and a good play to enjoy on a lazy afternoon but overall three stars - good/ok
