Summary

I Killed Pink Floyd's Pig is an all-access behind-the-scenes VIP tour of when rock was great, courtesy of Beau Phillips, a respected radio programmer and former head of marketing at MTV.

Phillips was an insider and occasional accomplice who witnessed the legends of classic rock in their heyday and takes listeners inside the dressing rooms, hotel suites, and private planes of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, and dozens more to enjoy funny, decadent, and never-been-told stories of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

The book's foreword was written by Sammy Hagar, former lead singer for Van Halen. He and Phillips met in the late 1970s, early in Hagar's career. Sammy wrote, "Beau has seen all of the rock and roll craziness - and his book is loaded with amazing stories."

Listen to the epilogue first

Adventures in music (industry) regaled in book form is always an "ended too soon" scenario, true with this book too, well read tales of American rock station hey-days sadly no more, & precisely why I get angry & scathing in my wife's car when she invariably listens to pre-chewed musical fodder with about as much nutritional content as a fast food chains scented urinal cake.

Great stories whether you are a rock beast or otherwise.
I shall listen to this title a few times over I'm certain.

Loved it

I loved this book. Well written, well read, full of rock and roll stories about the biggest names in the genre without feeling name-droppy.

Fun and Fascinating

I loved it - even though Beau was a little wrong about disco and it was only in America that had the radio influence but he’s right about the loss of individual stations and the sometimes out of control dynamics. I really enjoyed listening to his story thank you Audible for the gift :-))))

childish behaviour puts you off

started fine until the exploitation of homeless people to compete with opposition radio station. Bringing up weight joke on lead singer of Heart after supposedly smoothing things over sounds about right when you realized what type of idiot he is. maybe Bob Geldof was right about djs in their satin jackets. I even wondered if the paul McCartney gesture was really for girl not dj in the end. annoying.
