Summary
The newly-discovered novel from multi-million-selling author Joy Ellis. Never before published!
Flower shop owner Ellie McEwan is driving home late one frosty November night when a shadowy figure leaps into the road out of nowhere. Ellie swerves to avoid him — and slams head-on into the crash barrier.
Days later, Ellie wakes up in hospital — and notices there’s something different. Everyone she looks at — the doctor, the nurse, her friend Carole — is surrounded by a coloured aura. Her near-death experience seems to have given her a new ability.
And now Ellie must use her new-found gift to catch a killer.
The battered body of a young woman is found in the grounds of a local hotel. She’s the third woman to be murdered in this sleepy Surrey village, her hands crushed and mutilated. Just like the other two.
Each of the women was a skilled professional — a musician, a doctor and an artist. Apart from that, they appear to have nothing in common.
And now the police’s one lead — a key witness — is missing.
Although sceptical, a desperate DCI Bob Foreman calls on Ellie for help. But Ellie’s involvement in the investigation will throw her into the path of a brutal killer . . .
DISCOVER A TOTALLY ENTHRALLING MYSTERY.
This utterly gripping crime thriller is perfect for fans of L.J. Ross, J.D. Kirk, Elly Griffiths, Susan Hill, Kate Ellis or Ann Cleeves.

What an original topic and a fabulous first novel
When I found that this was Joys first book and that it had been rejected by publishers previously I wasn’t expecting too much but wow what a story I couldn’t put it down I had to listen to the end even faking a headache so my neighbour would let me rest! I’ve listened to most of her books and look forward to the next one. Thank you Joy for another incredible story.

Different Joy Ellis book
Narrator I felt was perfect.
Different story to what one expects from a Joy Ellis book. Some parts of the book I felt could have been edited , some bits not really necessary could have been condensed.
Enjoyed the joining of police procedure with “occult” line, will definitely try the next book in series and hope there will be more to come.
Recommend this psychological thriller.

Loved it!
I am a fan of Joy's police procedural series, loving the characters and the settings particularly. This, her first novel, intrigued me as it had an extra dimension of mystery with the main protagonist suffering a brain injury which left her able to see auras around people and finding she can detect physical problems. This leads her to honing her skills and helping the police to solve a series of grisly killings.
I love the hint of the supernatural, and would love to see more in future series.

Unique premise, characters and suspense. Wish there were more novels to understand the gift and how it could be used.

Hurray for Joy Ellis
Wow! A taste of the Joy Ellis to come in her future writing. Excellently read and tastefully presented, this story sows the seeds of her later writing. A real treat.
